You've never smelled cat food being made on a warm summer day.
When the humidity is about 90% in the summer, and there is no wind, that smell has some unbelievable hang time.

The smell of freshly plowed black dirt in the spring is really specific, and quite pleasant.
Unless it had Hog **** knifed in the day before...like it usually does these days.

Otherwise, yes it is.

I might also add the smell of said fresh field when a rain first hits.

I dont know anyone around here with hog barns and has farm land that wont suck out the pits and knife it in or spray it on. Filling the **** vac is a good fun time.

What is the sweet flower smell I catch sometimes in spring/summer when I roll my windows down? I used to smell it by Ada Hayden when I was in school. It’s very specific and I’ve only smelt it in Iowa. Help? (Serious)

Probably the strongest plant smell I notice out driving around is honeysuckle, which is invasive. Seems like driving at night in summer it’s very strong. I think it smells good.

But around Ada Hayden there are some nice prairies with a variety of native grasses and flowers, so it could be something growing there.

ISU and U of Iowa used to have a bunch of ginkgo trees, but they stunk like hell. I think both got rid of most of them.

Given the prevailing westerly winds, I'm afraid our state smell is Nebraska, and it's not pleasant.
