Back from our weekend of fun.

We ended up staying at the Double Tree down town. It's an older motel and it showed in some respects, but I'm not complaining since we got such a good rate through Priceline. Our room was large, secluded and had a great view of the town with huge windows.

The Greek Village was a great place to eat. Not that impressive on the outside and even a bit spartan on the inside. What great food however and really friendly service. We had some awesome fried Calamari and my Gyro platter that followed was great.

Went to the Omaha Zoo for the afternoon and hit the Imax. Was fun. Also spend a little time at the Bass Pro shop in Council Bluffs.

The Upstream Brewery was nice. We tried a sampler platter of 12 different beers and then had a couple more. Had a really nice Artichoke and Cheese dip and then followed up with an awesome Shrimp and Basil pizza. The bill was probably the priciest of all the places we went. Decent beer, but I found the food to be the best part of that place.

We had a really nice breakfast at Wheatfields this morning. I had this incredible Butcher's Quiche and my wife had some Ham and Egg stuffed Crepes that were very nice. Good coffee and a nice morning atmosphere. The next door shop has some very nice European pastries.

It was a nice get away for us and just what we needed. I think this area would be really neat in the summer months and we hope to make the trip again. Omaha works really well for us because we have family only about a half hour away who can watch our kids. You really can't go wrong down in that Old Market area.
