The lowest point of Lesotho is 1,400 m above sea level. You could put it over the top of several flatter countries and they would never even touch.

Considering that as an Iowan, I usually think of Minnesota as north, and Missouri as south, I find the following to be surprising.

If you travel directly north from Cascade, the first state you run into is…
Wisconsin.

If you travel directly south from Cascade, the first state you run into is…
Illinois.

(Same is true for any town of your choice in that part of the state.)

Quite a few points in western Iowa where if you travel north, the first state you run into is South Dakota.

Dubuque is further north than Chatham, Ontario.

If you want to drive from Mabel, Kentucky to the western-most part of its county (Fulton County), you have to go through Tennessee first.
