No it isn't. It IS clear that the recruiting that was being done his first two full recruiting classes was affected by the fact that everytime Iowa State was mentioned on any and every media outlet, it was because we were going to be demoted out of the BCS.

Now, the last 2 recruiting classes have shown improvement in measurables. Can they be developed? The answer will determine CPR's fate
UNI, Tulsa, and NDSU.

If we played in any other conference, or if we played in the Big 12 pre-allignment, we would be undefeated with Rhoads.

Didn't realize that. But thanks for the Tom Herman level deductive reasoning there sport. actually more Courtney Messingham level, but I don't want to make you feel bad.

Iowa State is an outlier. A northern school in a southern conference. No tradition, never spent any money until vicious dan came aboard, then it was only miniscule compared to our peers.

We last won a conference title in 1912. We started playing football in 1892, and have won 8 games in a season less than 10 times. We have a winning record against exactly ONE other conference team, and that is Kansas State.

Now I know a "winning" attitude would make all the difference, and we could aspire to be Florida State. But the reality is that Iowa State football is as tough a job as there is in the country.

So sarcasm and ignorance aside, the genius of the post quoted here is epic. You are trying to contend for the crown with the other drizzling *****.

cylove, there's definitely a small amount of truth in what you're saying. I lived through the McCarney era, and he had bright spots, but more downside than people are portraying in this thread.

It's just that after reading your posts in this thread, I realize that you're the biggest ******* ****** bag I've seen on this site, and I'd rather put you on ignore than read one more post of yours.

McCarney definitely had an easier schedule than Rhoads. However, if we are no longer convinced that we'd roll through Iowa's weak sauce schedule like we were telling ourselves (and Iowa fans) earlier this year after we beat them, and most of us are no longer making this argument, then it's kind of lame to say "McCarney had an easier schedule" because if this team can't win against Iowa's schedule then we aren't going to win against McCarney's. This team is just bad.

So basically I have learned that a lot of people are idiots in this thread or don't know anything according to cylove. Classic cylove posting at it's finest.

Just for clarification. If I ever compare Mac's schedules to Rhoads', it's not because I believe Rhoads' teams would do any better. It's that I believe, had Dan had to play UT, OU every year, plus deal with what Baylor has become as well. We wouldn't be talking about how Dan got us to all those Bowl games. I don't think an easier schedule is at all the solution to the problem here, in fact, an easier schedule would probably result in less blow outs, with just as many losses. But Dan wouldn't have fared any better than Rhoads with this schedule.

This is how I feel too. I don't use it to excuse where we're at right now, but people act like Mac getting 7 or 9 wins means the exact same thing compared to the slates we play now. I hate to say it but pretty much every bowl team Mac had could have easily missed a bowl with schedules comparable to our last few years. It just doesn't make sense to bring up Dan's win totals, even if you go back to the 11 game season years there were still more total winnable games on those schedules.

First time I've ever left before halftime. Not sure there's a reason to go back this year. Two weeks preparation yielded that performance. I'm not mad because we didn't win. I'm mad because we didn't compete. As I drove home, I actually felt bad for Lazzard - he could have played for Notre Dame.

You mean the Notre Dame squad that almost lost to the Midshipmen last night? I listened to a good portion of that game on my drive home last night. They sound terrible.

Ya it would suck to be the #10 team in the country. Terrible.

But the reality is, we don't play in another conference, and I don't believe there are plans to change conferences. We need to find a way to win in the big 12.

Bottom half of the Big XII (excluding ISU) is 7-16 right now. Instead of making ridiculous assumptions about how we would do in another conference, just think if we could compete with the dregs of the conference we're in now. Oh, and how about we take care of business against the FCS when we get a chance.

Lol you count 3 teams as the dregs. Just wow.

And we have not played either of the other 2 bad teams yet.

Oh well, it's just as intelligent of a statement as "it shouldn't be that hard to win 6 - 8 games every year." Never mind Iowa State has played football since 1892, and in that time have never ever been a solid program to expect 6 wins to be a floor. None of that matters, with that "winning" attitude it should be a piece of cake now.

I would love to see Iowa State ascend to that level, but in 120 + years of football, it hasn't happened. That's a lot to overcome

You should just shorten your posts to "We are Iowa State."

Unless they changed the meanings, "almost lost" still equals winning, "almost won" equals losing and "getting blown-out" equals what Iowa State does with Oklahoma. You're better than that, Veloclone.
