What do you think of Caitlin Clark?

Reese wasn't even the best player from her own team in the title game. CC was easily the best player on the court. If by "Breakthrough" they mean the best at cashing in on their teammates efforts, I guess AR is deserving.
It isn't just Iowa that does this. Minnesota looks for any kind of connection too. I imagine it's prevalent everywhere. It is probably a bit more prevalent in Iowa because of the relatively small population and relatively small number of celebrities.
Neither really makes sense as "Breakthrough Athlete" but it's ESPN and they have an agenda to push
All people that already cared about WBB or was an Iowa fan. Let’s see Iowa’s WBB attendance in 2 years vs 2 years ago. Guessing it’s unchanged.
But the fanbase is the best WBB fanbase anywhere. And it will be that way all of 1 or possibly 2 more years. Lasting dynasty of best WBB fanbase.
Anyone that gives a s**t about who wins this award needs a life. It’s dumb.
Any result here is going to be pretty entertaining.

- Purdy wins...significant Hawkeye bu++hurt but life will go on for them, they'll survive.
- Purdy doesn't win...nobody cares at all except laugh at some Iowa fans for rejoicing.
- Clark wins...see Brock Purdy doesn't win.
- The other guy wins...will be hilarious seeing them obsess over nothing.

Lol, you had me then you lost me. A CC win here would bring out a firehose of LSU fan rage. She's literally double-parked in their brains.
Only Iowa fans could blind themselves with jealousy over what a great human interest story it was that Brock was the last pick of the draft yet had #1 quarterback rating in the weeks he played.
I can only imagine how nuts they'd be going if Stanzi had #1 QB rating in NFL and was undefeated as a starter until getting injured. Doesn't even have to be last pick, just fifth rounder, they'd go NUTS with excitement understandably...and they wouldn't be alone because the entire country watches the NFL.
I guess I was talking about ISU and Iowa fans. ISU fans wouldn't care even slightly if Reese or Clark or the MLB player win.
I believe you if you say LSU is as obsessed with rage as Iowa fans are. Not sure it would be possible to have more rage, but I'd buy equal.
It's hard to take the "changed the game of womens basketball" seriously if there's no effort to schedule a non conference game though. I mean maybe it's not possible, seems like a big missed opportunity.
Happens in big cities with entertainment industry. Any city that isn't LA/NYC makes some MASSIVE story out of any actor or singer from the city. There were a few actors when I lived in Chicago that seemed to get a Tribune feature story every month.
Check out 99% of social media posts that feature CC, no matter what it's about whether it's Hy-Vee, pro-am golf, just hanging with teammates, whatever, and you'll see LSU fans in there talking about AR, the ring, no championship, etc. Lots of really gross stuff as well, LSU fans calling her ugly, calling her a man, calling her trans, etc.
More rage than Iowa fans? Nope. More gross than what Iowa fans said after the title game? Nope. But equally as bad IMO.
Fify, Iowa fans all started jumping on in late Feb, she's a shooter but WBB really hasn't changed much I think more people are tuning in for the tourney but not for much else for the casual fan.
Unfortunate. Seems like it could have been handled better all around and so many adults embarrassing themselves.
I can't imagine a better thing for CC to say than this below. Did Reese ever say anything comparable showing some comparable compliment acknowledging they both run their mouth and nobody says anything when guys do it?

She added: "Men have always had trash talk ... You should be able to play with that emotion ... That's how every girl should continue to play."
I'll admit I like watching CC highlights...but I also liked watching Soares highlights every bit as much.
I'm mainly an NBA fan and when I see a few elite college players approaching that kind of efficiency I get more interested. A lot of college basketball is a total brick fest.
