What does everyone think?

I was laying in bed last night, obviously thinking about the game and came back to the whole fouling situation. I know it's a huge argument, but we all know the scenario. Up 5 with 37 or so seconds left and KU has the ball. Instead of letting them have a driving layup opportunity, or a shot at a miracle 3. (happened quite a bit last night) We could take a little time off the clock and then foul them and let them earn there two points the hard way. Worst case scenario (besides them making first and missing second then getting the rebound and scoring) is them making them both. So they make both, that means were up 3 and we have the ball back, probably around 27 seconds. Get the ball in and we get fouled, and now we get two free throws. Make 1 and were up four, make 2 and were back up 5. That's if the other team makes both, they could miss both, or miss one and we get the rebound. This is a all assuming they are in double bonus or bonus and so are we. It would be kind of a childish approach, but just thinking about it seems like it would work being up anywhere 3-8 points, and maybe not even 8. Obviously if you're up a ton you're not gonna foul. Just a thought, it might be a dumb opinion but I just want to hear what everyone else thinks. And I was using our situation being up 5, the numbers would differ depending on how much were up.

I'm all for fouling late but I don't think so in that situation. You don't want to extend the game when you have the lead.

Not with that much time left, no. The two 3's they hit were not high percentage shots by any means.

You are asking for all kinds of trouble by instructing players to intentionally foul in that situation. Instead, we should politely ask them to intentionally play defense.

Yeah, and I remember correctly as it was they expended a lot of time before they got the shot off on one of their threes. If you foul earlier that time is on the clock and you just bought them more time.

I guess it comes down to whether you can play defense or not, particularly whether you can guard the 3pt shot. On Sunday, tOSU had a 5 point lead on MSU with a minute left. MSU never scored again. In the ISU game, KU scored 8 points in the last 30 seconds. If you can't guard the three, then maybe fouling is your best option.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Especially when the score was in the high 80's, it would have been different if shots weren't going down.

I thought the same thing.....basically, get into a free throw battle with them....but, it is risky as you also allow them to put points on the board with the clock not running.
