Supposedly a political science major wrote and submitted it. There's a couple quotes in it I really like.
"... I turned the corner by the library and noticed three Caterpillar and Case IH tractors down the road, parked neatly in the grass in front of Davidson Hall."
Ok..I know it's the farm kid coming out in me but theres a Challenger (not caterpillar) tractor, a Deere tractor, and a Case IH combine parked in front of Davidson Hall. If you can't even name the equipment correctly, that's strikes 1-2-3 right there with me and you have lost all credibility.
"Nothing says "let us come together and honor the humble beginnings of Iowa State University" like letting giant, multinational corporations invade our campus and set up forward operating bases of arrogant advertising and patronization."
This is where the guy really starts becoming an idiot. Those pieces of machinery are donated for Veishea week from local implement dealers and parked there by the Ag. Systems Technology Club. So I'm pretty stumped to which multinational corporations he is speaking of. If he would've taken the time to venture over to the equipment he would've noticed a sign in the cab stating what implement dealer in was being borrowed from. This has been a tradition that has been going on since at least 1957 to my knowledge.
"You know, the one week of the year in which Iowa State whores out its pristine — chain-link fence filled — campus to agriculture implementers so that they can have a new, temporary showroom all over the landscape."
Temporary Showroom? Are you kidding? There are SOOOO many students here who are looking into purchase a new 300,000 combine right now. Give me a break.
I hate stupid people.
