Here's what the opponents in the Top 25 on our schedule are ranked right now...

Oklahoma #3
Okie State #6
Texas #11
KSU #20
A&M #24
Baylor #25

Here's Iowa's....

Michigan #12
Nebraska #14

Iowa schedule is pathetic, but the big 10 is just down big time. I also think that A&M and Baylor are better then both Mich and Neb. not sure on kstate yet.

Two factors with the Big Ten this year is that 1) the whole conference is down. Teams like Ohio State, who usually clean up in the conference are down (Michigan is probably one its way back up, I suppose). Second, the new divisions have created situations where unlike the 10 team Big Twelve, you don't face everybody.

In the Big Twelve, you have teams that all did well in non-conference play, and look strong...and you all get the opportunity to play each other.

Thus, you have a situation where 1-9 of the toughest schedules are Big 12 teams (based on cumulative opposition)
#1: Kansas
#2: ISU
#3: A&M
#4: Missouri
#5: Baylor
#6: OU
#7: Texas
#8: OSU
#9: KSU
#19: TTU

The Big Ten is:
#10: Nebraska
#15: PSU
#16: Minnesota
#16: Michigan
#25: Illinois
#33: Purdue
#35: Indiana
#42: tOSU
#53: MSU
#59: Wisconsin
#59: Iowa
#63: jNW

I work just south of Iowa City, and I keep telling them that they will have 8 wins at least this year. It's disturbing how bad the Big 10 is. As far as I'm concerned, there is 1 good team in the conference, and it may end up winning the NC. That team would be Wisconsin, and Iowa doesn't even play them. I laughed a lot when Iowa fans were freaking out that Wiscky beat Nebbie and said "welcome to the conference." It's possible, and very likely that Nebbie won't lose another game in conference all year, and they have a really good shot at winning their division.

Oh what I would give to have an easy schedule...

You guys don't want to go to the mountain west, yet you don't want to play a b12 schedule....which is it? Can't have your cake and eat it too.

I think we know the b10 is down. Everyone knows. But some of you act like you would come into the b10 and blow everyone out. Meh, I don't see it. More wins? Sure.

I think this Baylor game will be a good idea of how you guys are gonna stack up in the b12 this year. Hopefully ISU plays well down there.

I love the Big 12 schedule. I would rather play in the Big 12 right now than the Big 10 this year. Time for ISU to man up and play some ball against the big dogs.

What bugs me is that ISU has one of their best teams in years but it comes in a year where the big12 is very strong, and at the same time Iowa has a team that is not up to par for them but it is coming in a year where the big10 is way down so they will still end up looking better than they should

Iowa must have one of the WEAKEST schedules in the entire country. My goodness.

Funny how the media has been pumping up Penn State all week as if this is a big game. National TV at 2:30 etc..... between two non-ranked teams. Whoooo... big deal.

And I personally think that is BS. NU the 14th best team?? No way in hell.

The Hawks are a lock for a bowl, more than likely on New Years Day. ISU will need an upset or two to make a bowl. Cue the This just proves once again that the Iowa game is ISU's superbowl crowd. As in most years, it only proves that the Big 12 is much tougher than the Big 10 and the Big Ten has better bowl slots.

Doubt this. If Iowa loses today...things could change dramatically.

Was thinking about this recently as well. How the B1G is not so mighty after all. The leads me to believe a 6-6 record for us and a trip to the insight bowl playing Ohio State this year would be awesome. It would be really hard for me to turn that trip down.

The whole thing about ISU beating Iowa and going on to a crappy season is 90% due to the difference in conference strength between the Big 12 and Big 10 over the past decade and a half.

Yoy just couldn't handle the discussion could you? Iowa is an average team in a weak conference. ISU is an average team in a great confenence.

ISU would easily go 6-6 7-5 EVERY year playing in the Big 10.

There are enough very average teams to pick up 2-3 conference wins every year.

No wonder Pellini took Nebraska to the Big 10. How else is he going to win.

I can handle it pretty well. Don't see how you can dispute anything I said with the title of this thread.

You just can't handle that he has a point. You cry when the conference almost dissolves and now you're crying because you have to play its schedule. Make up your mind.

With the exception of the SEC, these conference strengths are cyclical. This year, the B10 is way down and the B12 is pretty strong(not sold on Texas). Wasn't too long ago that all ISU had to do was compete in the pathetic B12 North. I can't believe that any of you would have discounted those wins just because it came in a crappy division.
