What irritates you on the highway?

And when you back into a spot, you don't have somebody else driving into your rear end. You can also see better when pulling out of a spot, rather than backing out. I do this 95% of the time in my pickup.

Ok so now when you are backing into a stall you have to worry about both of the parked cars on either side of you.....

I have never had anyone drive into me while backing out of a stall (or even a close call for that matter).... nor do i believe I know anyone else who has...

also, from my observations, it seems to take longer for MOST people to back in, then back out....

You couldn't agree more, or could you agree more?!?!?! no...wait, that's something else....nevermind. :jimlad:

Not a stick figure family guy myself, but I don't get how this annoys people...it's a sticker making a simple statement....this is my family...I wouldn't do it myself, but as for annoying me when others do it? Meh... The old "baby on board" I could maybe see, there's the subtle implication that I should drive differently because of that, but the stick figures I can't understand annoyance. Ahh, well...to each their own.

NOTHING says, "I'm overcompensating..... " like the ol' bumper nuts on the back of a truck with a lift kit and duel smoke stack exhaust.

Rep point for anyone who can find a pic of a truck with all three!

Seems counter intuitive to me.... Could it be that only a few people actually do this so fewer people have accidents doing it this way? Kinda like the statistic that most people have an accident within a mile of their home.... well yea, as distance to your parking spot at home decreases the amount of time you spend at any particular spot increases.

I may have misled, I meant that accidents are less likely when backing in at arrival vs backing out when leaving.

I understand where you're coming from, it seems silly, I mean you are backing either way. I dont back in in every situation but I will look for a spot where I can pull through more now than every before.

I don't really mind seeing the trucks with all that crap on them (truck nuts, stacks, lift kit etc.) What bothers me is when you see said trucks speed up and fly by the cyride stops like they have something to prove to everybody standing there. The same goes for kids with your typical Ford mustang that probably tops out where my silverado does, but they fly by like nobody could ever catch them.

Sorry, but I'm not going 65 mph all the way to Omaha cause some ******* won't get over.
Pull off at the gas station for 10 minutes and you will never catch up to the guy again..... You will driving 10 over 65 will get you to omaha from des moines about 15 minutes sooner?

Won't this all be a moot point when our government overlords put speed cameras up all over.

Save us, government!

It has to be people with their cruise set at 1 mph over the speed limit. You know, the guy who takes 6 miles to pass a car because he doesn't want to speed up.
Without a doubt.

Also slow driving people that coast through red lights and leave you stuck.

I try and make my time driving productive. If I'm using the left lane to pass and there is a car in front of me who is "camping" for more than a 1/4 of a mile I usually do something obnoxious. Flash my lights or give them one of these.

Yes, it's obnoxious but if I can stop one person from using the passing lane to camp, than it's worth it in the end.

I have a tendency to drive pretty quick. About once every two weeks I'll have someone that knows how to drive jump on the speed train and follow me or if someone is driving faster than me and using proper lane etiquette, I'll follow them. It's a relief to actually follow someone that has a clue. On the other hand I drive about average speed at night and slower than everyone else during bad weather (rain, snow, ice, etc.)

If Americans payed attention and followed proper lane etiquette, there is no reason the sped limit couldn't be 85mph during the day on most highways.

Do a quick google search on backing accidents. Almost every publication will state that in order to reduce accidents you should position your vehicle so that you can drive forward into the flow of traffic rather than backing. First choice is always to pull through (in a parking lot) if possible, this eliminates backing all together. Second option is to back into spots and then pull out.

What sucks is a lot of big, busy parking lots have the slanted stalls which make it virtually impossible to back in safely.

Im not arguing, it seems silly at first but once I got used to it I actually like it because its easy to see what I am driving into when I leave.

I have to back my Sierra into stalls. My turning radius doesn't allow me to effectively pull forward. Now it's a habit for me.

I gave so many reps to the left lane comments that I can't give any more rep. That is a stupid mod rule.

Of all the left lane annoyances is the guy/gal that is driving the limit in the left lane with 15 cars backed up behind them, then when the highway widens to the left again, they move their dumb *** into that lane.

The one thing that helps me deal with others is thinking to myself that I have no idea what that person went through today. Maybe they got fired, maybe their wife is cheating on them, maybe they lost a good friend or family member. You never know what's going on in somebody's life, don't assume everybody is an ***hat and you won't get as mad.

In summary every idiot in front of me and every maniac behind me.

So many of my pet peeves have already been said -
- The person sitting in the left lane going 65
- The person in the left lane going 66 trying to pass the guy in the right going 65
- When I'm in the left going 74, passing the guy on the right, and someone comes up behind me going 85 and starts tailgating me.

- People who slow waaaaaaaaaaaay down for snow or rain. That's how accidents happen. You can slow down, but going 30mph if it's just wet/snow and not icy is dangerous.

And my big pet peeve (non-highway), I turn right at a light every day on my drive to work. There are very clear signs saying NO RIGHT ON RED 7AM-7PM (popular school kid crossing). So I never go right on red. But inevitably I'll get people behind me creeping closer and closer and you can see them waving at me and trying to get me to go. Sorry, I'm not going. There is an unmarked cop car who commonly sits about a block behind this intersection and watches for people to do this. Wisconsin tickets are freaking expensive, you can wait behind me at the d*** light.

Sorry if this has been mentioned. Just got on and didn't want to read through all the posts. I hate when someone is going down the acceleration lane (actual name, not an on-ramp) going 40 - 45 mph when you need to be merging with vehicles traveling 70+.

Yes. This is awful. There is ample space to get up to speed on our on-ramps.

I drive on Highway 30 from Jefferson to Carroll everyday for work this summer. So many ******** on that road. I'm just minding my own business cruising along at 60mph singing along to my iPod, with chaos going on around me. Would love if they made Highway 30 4-Lane from Ogden on west..
