Shows up seemingly right on July 1st. Wants to congregate in the part of my yard that gets the most direct sunlight. Seems to be able to find any small opening in the yard where the grass isn’t fully grown in.

We have yard service and they just lid down step 2 which I believe is weed control. Takes about 3 rounds of weed killer to actually kill.
Have you smoked it?

My guess is prostrate spurge. The leaves are rounder and don’t have the purple dot on the leaves like spotted spurge. Dicamba or 24D will kill it and not kill the grass. The spotted spurge in my yard takes 2 applications about 10 days apart. It always grows on the edge of my yard along the gravel drive. It drives me nuts.
Ewww, a good reminder for all you guys over 40 to make an appointment and get your prostrate checked.

When I did plant inventories for the DNR in Iowa I found this prostrate Euphorbia. But not often here in Wisconsin. Thanks for the memories.

Is the plant sticky at all? I have the same looking plant and it is sticky. It seems to grow about this time and this year my yard is thick and it is still showing up. Really comes through along edge of sidewalks/driveway.

I get it as well and it absolutely suffocates the grass. My driveway edges look terrible.

Creeping Charlie seems to be thriving right now. I keep fighting it on two sides as my neighbors do nothing about it.

That reminds me of the time 2 guys from Chicago on my dorm floor found some ditch weed and tried to smoke it. ( for perspective this as 1980) First, they dried it in a toaster over and the whole floor smelt like burnt silage. Then they complained about no buzz. We tried to explain that Iowa has a lot of volunteer cannabis plant but it is descendants of when farmers grew hemp for rope.

Talk to your yard service. If they are who takes care of weed control in your yard they should know what to do to take care of it. They may have to use a specific chemical to target that weed. Some sprays work for most weeds, others are needed to target more difficult ones.
