It is 2003. It is 2008. It is 1989.
All I saw was some crap tackling all day. That tall dude who is a defensive end.....?????....We got issues. Tall, but slow, dumb, bad tackler, gets pushed to the outside everyplay. I liked our D with Knott, but after him we just had no response. no depth. no coaching.
Punt rushing sucked again.....4 guy get to within 3 yards of the guy and then they all simultaneously do the gangnam shuffle disco style....1 of them should call an undeterred rush every punt!!!!
Zone read sucks. I have been saying this since 2008.....We do not have cam newton. Every freaking running play, including the woody ones, our guy was running sideways 2 seconds after the snap. That is coaching and philosophy problems. I would be shocked if Rhoads does not clean house in the entire O-coaching staff.
If Sam was hurt, he should have took himself out earlier.....but then I saw how Jantz ended the game, so I guess that would not have been the answer. Hell, we suck. We have to get an offense that can run at least 4 plays in a row without a zone-read loss of 2 yards. Tulsa is a good team, but we just got dominated and we must want to get better. I am not as upset at the defense. I will not blame the Lang either...at least he was playing with some attitude. his play was NOT the game.....Tulsa had shown in the second quarter they were the better team.

If you feel the need to criticize David Irving, how about discussing whether he is making the right read, or is biting on play fakes or whatever? Calling a player dumb is completely classless, and I'm embarrassed to have you as part of the fan base.

David Iriving and Cleyon Lang both made stupid *** penalties. And #55 made a bonehead foul as well. They were dumb plays, call a spade a spade. The sunshine pumping portion of this fanbase is dumb.

I'm embarassed of you judging me....you don't know me.
When my defensive end allows himself to get pushed around and behind the quarterback by some o-lineman just letting him take himself out of the play repeatedly.....especially when he is 6"-7" or whatever and his abilty to contain as well as jump up and knock down passes is critical....I call it dumb. Maybe he isn't getting coached adequately to stay in front, contain, and get arms up on passes....if that is the case, our defensive line coaches are failing or they are dumb.
How can you argue semantics and ettiquette now, girlfriend. We just got prison-bred by Tulsa! I constructive-criticize because I love. Where is the Love?

What is so great about Yancy McKnight? We need to be more physical.

Alot of you will remember that I've been a big supporter of Coach McKnight.Been there helping out and
even started a few threads on here about it.
After witnessing 'things' & results first hand over the past 8-10 weeks...I am starting to wonder if his
flexibity first approach is the right way to go.
For a program like ISU to succeed...I think maybe a new approach may be needed.ONLY because of the importance of Line play. They are the players that arent being developed the right way...IMO.

Along those lines, I think the same could be said about the offense. Our path to success is to maul, not dance. Most games we are the inferior team in both maintaining blocks and getting off of blocks.

Watching the game, I knew in the second quarter it was over. Why do we try and run sideways against a team our O coordinator said had great team speed on defense? That only allows them the time to catch up. You must run at the speed and have blocking schemes to get the consistent 4 yards and the occasional game changer. Our offense needs a complete change.

Everyone talked all year long about how good our bend but don't break defense was. We held teams under there average scoring and yardage. But we did not get off the field. How many 3 and outs did Tulsa have? I know we had too many and our defense got tired, but if we held them to more 3 and outs, we would get to rest sooner. A defense will never out condition an offense and we must figure out how to get off the field before an 8 play drive.

We need new schemes. Especially on offense. We have some talent, but I would really like to see us be able to line up and get 4 yards in a cloud of dust most of the time. Where was Woody last night? I only remember him carrying the ball a couple of times. When we were up 14 to 10 and needed to sustain a drive, why not Woody for a few plays with straight up the field runs? I am really questioning the play calling.
