Caught Yola at Hoyt Sherman. She was phenomenal, however the opener was supposed to be a guy named Jac Ross, a younger fella from across the pond. We walked in at the tail of the opener and it was an old guy with a guitar and a young guy on bass/keys. The old fella started a song, stopped, took at minimum 5 minutes to retune his guitar, then jumped into the song. By this time, it was well past time Yola should have come on, old guy tries to go into another song, the younger guy on stage mouths "We're outta time, we gotta get off the stage!" Old guy gets up, unplugs the guitar, stands up with the guitar and starts to talk off stage...well no one has really applauded yet because they assumed another song was coming. He looks out to the audience, half waves, sets the guitar back down and plugs it back in then just kinda wanders off stage leaving the young guy sitting by himself.
It was the most awkward, strange, hilarious, uncomfortable thing I've ever experienced at a concert.
