A couple tidbits, first, Joe Strummer's first performance persona was Woody Mellor, in honor of Guthrie. Second, Woody Guthrie strongly coveted owning a Gibson Les Paul in the months before his death. The world missed out on a electric Woody Guthrie by this much.
