If Steve finishes he’s contract that’s worse than an NCAA death sentence. You are volunteering and paying good money to just suck. My vacuum cleaner should suck not my colleges head men’s basketball coach.

Odds XF transfers in next year or two seem high to me. It will hurt all the more if he ends up fantastic somewhere else

that’s 10 more conference wins than this years team will get:(

furthermore, that team had leadership and likely would have won those games with or without a coach!
Might have won a few more

Put John Beilein on speed dial. I hate zone d but there isn’t a better coaching option out there with a track record of success as well as having the ability to look at recruits and talk about players he has put in the NBA.
Beilein would be a home run but probably not realistic

My question. Why isn't he playing the freshman more? Are they not good enough to beat out the guys that are out there playing like *******? If not, yikes. If they are, what the frick Steve?

I’m here to be counted.

The Prohm era has become the ‘I don’t really care anymore’ era of ISU basketball. I was hesitant to let him go because of the recruits we’ve gained in this freshman class and next years class, but I’m realizing no matter how good the players are, this coach doesnt have the skills or staff to coach them up.

Time to move on. This just isn’t working.

I thought effort was good vs West Virginia, Baylor, Texas. Maybe making modest movement in the right direction.
Today, WOW!
And TTech is not as good as the most recent 2 of those 3.
What happens that leads to the complete fiasco we saw today?
Beard realized at 4 minutes in to take Solo out of the offense. CSP had no adjustment.

I haven't watched one minute of the team this year. I didn't even know who or when we played today. I hate that it's come to this too. I gave Prohm a lot of leash and defended him until last year. It's clear he's just not the right fit. I also know getting rid of him is not likely. What a clusterfuck.

Probably discussed but not going to read all the pages of this thread and get more depressed. But would someone like DeVries ever be interested in coaching here or is that a pipe dream?

Good question about Devries. I have not followed his career at Drake closely. Can anyone shed light on what his strengths are?

Not sure what his strengths are game wise but it's clear he does a lot with a little. He's an Iowa guy with lots of experience under McDermott at Creighton. Year three at Drake and his first two both saw 20+ wins and Drake tied for first in the MVC year one. Off to a 13-0 start this year knocking on the top 25. Four wins in MVC this year by an average of around 20 points per game. Won at Kansas State. Their closest win was 7 point road win at Indiana State. Average margin of victory overall this year is 25 ppg. I know they aren't playing anyone that great but it's noteworthy.

He's worth a look. I just have no idea if he would be interested.

Just watch this team for one half and you’ll see:

1. There is no identity.
2. There isn’t significant effort, discipline, or attention to detail in any area of the game.
3. The team is poorly coached.
4. There are no consequences for poor effort or performance. Young was giving near zero effort out there and yet stayed on the floor.

Prohm was handed the program in the best shape it’s ever been in. And absolutely cratered it.
Please God make Prohm leave

Does he still do a call in show? He needs asked tough questions like these:

How many 20+ losses should an ISU coach be allowed to have at Hilton? Multiple per season?

Do your players play as hard as their opponents?

you went through a prolonged offense/defense drought again... why not make a personal or scheme change during that stretch? This happens EVERY GAME?

there are many others that come to mind but you get the point.

It's now twitter only.

I wouldn't know why Devries wouldn't want to coach at ISU, we aren't that many yrs away from being good.

Hell as long as he is smart enough to not call a time out when the team is making a run and Hilton is rocking it will be an improvement. His teams are fun to watch and it's the style of ball that ISU fans like to watch. It's not that hard to be the coach at ISU. Pick your identity Run like Orr's and Fred's team, or play D like Floyds and Eustachy's. ISU fans don't care as long as you defend home court. Unluckily that is one thing Prohm hasn't figured out. I keep thinking maybe things will turn but I'm out of faith, there is no offensive or defensive identity on this team and there hasn't been for a couple of yrs unluckily. I hope he steps down but at that kind of money, ride it till your dumped is the most likely result.
