My expectation of the fan base:

Loss: "we aren't going to win a game - FIRE RHOADS RIGHT NOW!!!"
Single-digit win: Half say "this will be our only win - fire Rhoads right now" and half will say "we're going undefeated!"
Double-digit win: "We're going undefeated!!!!"

How are we not making a bowl with 7+ wins?

You read what you want to read as I know your lunacy is dependent on making up ****, but that looks like the possible point differential to the game...you know, like the question asked.

I am the one calling for people to see how the entire season plays out. You are the doomsayer repeating over and over that Rhoads should be fired. Nevermind that we have never had a coach in decades have the success that Rhoads had in his first 4 years. We have had 13 winning seasons in the last 50+ years.

All I have done is tell negative A-holes like yourself to just chill out and see what happens. Rob Gray addressed this in the Roundtable discussion. Heaven forbid that fans can't get even a little bit optimistic about the coming season, without the Negative Nancy's chiming in.

No, I am the one that actually reads posts and does not need to fabricate things to support my contention, which is not about wanting Rhoads gone, but the likelihood that Rhoads will get things to the needed level. That is unlikely imo. You continually "read" what you want to read, which is apparently a bunch of fire Rhoads posts. Very telling. You are quite negative and unstable. Don't take this so seriously.

Care to point out to a post in this thread by Rabbuk saying Rhoads should be fired if he wins 7+? You can't.

To base our coach's future on one game is silly. That said, if we lose to UNI the uphill battle to get to 6 wins is nearly impossible.

But we aren't firing our coach after Week 1...that's just stupid. Has that ever happened before?

When it comes to football I have replaced my Cyclone Kool-Aid with Cyclone Novocain shots. The plan is I won’t feel a thing, win or lose.

My Reaction to the possible outcomes:

Loss:

Me: Total meltdown. I'll scream for the firing of Rhoads at the post game press conference.
Reality: It's UNI, we seem to always lose to UNI. ISU finishes the season 2-10. Rhoads get another year.

1-13 point win:

Me: Sense of apathy. Nothing much accomplished with a narrow win.
Reality: Any win is a good win. ISU finishes the season 3-9. Rhoads gets a 5 year contract extension.

14+ point win:

Me: That's what you're supposed to do to a FCS football team. Big stinking deal, now go out there and do it to actual competition.
Reality: Holy crap! ISU is an offensive juggernaut! They finish the season 4-8. Rhoads gets a lifetime contract and hefty raise.

Uni blow out: crowd rips down new south end zone.

Any other outcome and we're looking at the same cramp we have been for three years.

You are really going to complain and have a "sense of apathy" if we win by 13 points??

Here's some recent history of UNI v ISU games

2001 ISU 45 to 0
2004 ISU 23 to 0
2006 ISU 27-26
2008 UNI 24-13
2010 ISU 27 to 0
2011 ISU 21 to 20
2013 UNI 27 to 21

It's not out of the question to see ISU blow UNI out. In fact, these trends would indicate this year we will blow them out! :D

ALL the possible outcomes? This might take awhile. Here we go:

UNI ISU
0 0 ::: I'll crop dust from my seat to C5 and have another beer.
0 3 ::: Well, it's a win, but I'm probably still gassy.
0 6 ::: Depends. Did we miss a PAT or make two FGs?
0 7 ::: A win is a win. Are we healthy?

This might take awhile.

0 9 ::: Did they at least NOT play Smoke on the Water?
0 10 ::: It's still a shutout, which I will enjoy.
0 12 ::: I might have taken this too literally?
0 14 ::: Who drank my beer while I was in the game?
0 15 ::: 5 FGs is unimpressive, but I do like the number 15.
0 17 ::: Points = Beers consumed, that's cool.
0 20 ::: Seriously, I'd love to hold UNI scoreless.
0 21 ::: Three TDs is cool, glad to see us finishing drives.
0 24 ::: Depends, did we kick the FG into the wind?
0 27 ::: Goddammit they're still playing this Sweet Caroline ****?
0 28 ::: Wait a minute, did I forget to figure out safeties?
0 31 ::: You really want my post-game thoughts for EVERY possible outcome?
0 35 ::: Our offense should be capable of putting up at least 35 on UNI.
0 38 ::: What should our max be, before I start reporting some points for the purple hawks?
0 42 ::: You might have noticed I'm skipping some numbers because this is stupid.
0 147 ::: I don't give a ****, I'll react how my mind reacts after the game.

Instead of predetermining my reaction to different outcomes, I'm going to let the game/season play itself out and make my decision based on how the team performs in actual games against actual teams. You can go ahead and nitpick the 3-deeps if you want. Just make sure you email Pollard this week and tell him how to do his job. I've heard he loves that.

What a lot of people don't seem to know is that our two largest donors, one of which is nearly solely responsible for the new SEZ, loves CPR. There is a zero percent chance CPR gets fired after game 1...even if we lost to UNI by 30

Lose to UNI again, I'm officially 100% behind moving on from CPR after this season. However, I reserve the right to change my opinion if we somehow eek out 6 wins.

That's pretty much where I'm at. Losing this game would be more depressing than the last two years have been for me, and like LindenCy says, I'll be checked out at that point.

Loss: Figure that we will beat only Iowa and Kansas and that will it for the year maybe find another W, but getting to 4 wins will be tough.

Win: Regardless of spread would be an improvement over last couple of years against FCS opponents that's a positive.

I think even people who would support such a move understand it wouldn't happen. Honestly, we aren't an attractive enough job in football to treat a coach like that. If there was a change, it would be done at the end of the season, as nicely as it possibly could to try and make things look good for potential candidates.

It did read like that, win 7 vs win by 7 have totally different meanings.

No... I wasn't trying to get anybody riled up. I was trying to start a thread that wasn't dominated by "fire Rhoads" or "Everything is fine comrade, nothing to see here". I think a lot of us are waiting to see what happens against UNI and I figured I'd start a thread to find out what that part of the fanbase was thinking.

LULZ

Whhhaaaaa? Lemme get this straight - you started a thread speculating about people's reactions if we lose to UNI, and your intent was it not to be dominated by "fire Rhoads"?

Seriously?

This. 100% this.

The whole entire premise of the thread proves the ISU fanbase has a significant number of fans that just love to find the worst in everything and some get real joy from having a football program to poke fun at or complain about.

ISU loss - September 5 will be the official start to basketball season

ISU win - Apathy, show me more. Just happy it's finally football season.

ISU win and fans storm the field - Worse than a loss. Embarrassed.
