This Guy......Doesn't get it.

I think the UNI players just get so jacked up to play in an actual stadium. Plus this is really the only game that hawk fans get to attend in person often times in their entire lives, so they get really pumped too.
I don't think Super Bowl is the word. But it probably is not a bad word to use either. Clive's right that the BCS game isn't "as important" in that it's considered ok to lose as far as your FCS record goes and playoff concerns. But - it is UNI's chance to play with "big boys." I put big boys in quotes because in this case UNI comes into this game as probably more talented and better coached. But everyone thinks, "Oh, BCS school should always beat FCS." Well, then UNI will play with a chip on their shoulder. Something to prove.

No it's not about the stadium. It's about knowing you have talent and yet knowing that thousands of uneducated fans think you're an underdog because of the sub-division you're in. And it focuses you while the other team looks past you.

It's the same reason Iowa State has a winning record against Kirk Ferrants, IMO. Squak fans view ISU as little brother whose proper place is to lose to Iowa every time.

Well I see you're struggling with the definition of the word reaction. The one you used in the title to your thread.

If you are deciding how you will feel after the game, it's no longer a reaction. It's a predetermined decision. A reaction can not come before the event. That is known as anticipation.
The final score prediction threads must be incredibly traumatic for you.

Would you stop your fit if he changed the title to "Predict how you will feel after the UNI game"?

Actually, going by the recent past, the UNI game produces record crowds. And we both know that's not because UNI fans fill up half the stadium. This year will be a sell out and another record crowd, with UNI returning 600 of its unused tickets.

The cold hard evidence shows that the UNI game is Iowa State's Super Bowl.

LOL. It is an opening game for the season. Sad that the UNI fanbase could not even sell their ticket allotment for this game. Of course, Iowa has their home opener the same day.

Thanks for confirming my point. Not our Super Bowl. If it were, our tickets would be gone in a heartbeat.

The whole entire premise of the thread proves the ISU fanbase has a significant number of fans that just love to find the worst in everything and some get real joy from having a football program to poke fun at or complain about.

We were 2-10 last season and there are actual fans who will be ****** if we win by less than 14 points. Going to be a fun season on CF...

So you have no point and we're just going to post images that don't mean anything now?

Well, if you must know I first gif was to show I was dismissing your argument. It wasn't for you really, it was for everybody else who might open the thread. Because I felt your position was stupid and didn't merit further discussion. Then you doubled down with some nonsense, so I replied with some nonsense. The internet isn't serious business and I wasn't going to waste any more time arguing with somebody who can't comprehend a simple thought exercise.

Part of that is a terrible decision by UNI's Athletic Department. They gave most of the seats in the lower bowl to the band and pretty much all of the boosters and season ticket holders got stuck in the upper deck. Lots of angry people there.

That's totally cool. I'm happy for you. Just know that once you're out of Jr. High there are words that have definitions and communicating with other folks is generally easier if you use the words that match up with the definition you're trying to portray. Lemme know if you need me to dumb that down more for you.

I am pretty much on board with the OP reactions. With one exception - HOW matters to me as much as score. If ISU wins by a small margin, but looks awesome in the trenches, and it wasn't as really as close as the final score - that is worth a lot to me. Final scores can be flukey sometimes. Domination of the game is more key to me than domination on the scoreboard. If that makes sense.

Some are saying you can't rate the whole season on 1 game, and there is truth to that. BUT, what you can take away from this game is a good idea of what you have for the rest of the season. Look at the scores from other years (posted earlier) and our records in those years. Generally, if ISU manhandles UNI, then it's a decent year. If ISU barely wins (or loses) then it's going to be a rough one.

You gonna put the band in the upper deck? Methinks not. UNI has always put the band in the lower SW bowl. Blame ISU, if you must blame someone, for giving the visitors the sheeety seats, which I can totally understand. Blame or no blame, the crowd and ticket apportionment shows this is not UNI's Super Bowl.

Or that UNI has a tiny fan base, which is particularly true the weekends ISU and Iowa have home games. They are definitely my favorite FCS program. Go Cats!

Same level of seating that most schools have available to visitors. Consider yourself lucky that we aren't Texas and put you guys next to the student section.

Nope, I'm not blowing nearly $20k of our guarantee to bring the band. The UNI band has gotten huge and costs a ton of money to get anywhere.
