Win the Big 12. Winning a title is better. I would rather win a conference title than to make the final four and end up with nothing.

I think final 4 would be about equal to the championship (its recognized about as much as winning a conference is). Anything below that and i'd rather have the big 12 championship.

I totally disagree. A final 4 appearance is way more prestige than a Big 12 tournament (not even the regular season) title.

Plus, the season and excitement of the fan base and consequently the recruits Fred is going after, extends two more weeks into the tournament. The long term benefits to the program of a final 4 far outweigh any benefits a tourney championship might bring.

Lastly ISU has several big 12/big 8 tourney titles, but hasn't had a final 4 appearance since the 40's.

Sweet 16 no question.

The conf tourneys are dumb - especially when you play a round-robin regular season.

I would have to say Sweet 16, but winning the Big 12 Tournament would be a special moment for me because I will be watching it with my father. I haven't watched an ISU basketball game with him in a couple years, so watching this group of guys clinch the title would be a great memory.

If we win the Big 12 tourney: a trophy and a week of publicity shared with 67 other teams.

Trip to Sweet 16: A week of publicity shared with only 15 other teams and huge momentum for next year.

Making the Sweet 16 opposed losing in the second round means the season is going to last at least 5 days more and I don't want this season to end. The season is going to keep on going regardless if we lose to Texas or win the Big XII tournament.

With the lineup pretty much set for next year, I think that winning the B12 Tourney would mean the most, and probably jumpstart the guys for next year the easiest. If winning the B12 Tourney ramps them up gonig into next year, there's plenty time to go deep into the tournament and start making a name for ourselves.

I don't think there's really a wrong answer here.

That being said, being around on weekend two of the big show can't be beat.

I voted sweet 16 with a couple specific things in mind.

Going off the big 12 tourney a loss to Mizzou, a potential #2 seed, wouldn't be heart breaking to me. Although I would want KU to squash them like a bug in the final.

Getting to the sweet sixteen would involve us, according to Lunardi as of 3/6, beating Virginia and Syracuse(assuming they beat UNC-Asheville) and would put us in the sweet 16 against either Temple, BYU, Wichita St. or Nevada all of whom I think we could beat, placing us squarely into the Elite 8 against Duke, Michigan or someone like that.

In other words, I over thought it.:twitcy:

I think the Sweet 16. 25 million people reading Iowa State's name, and either rooting for or against us on the second weekend, and primetime TV. You can't buy pub like that.

This is a good poll. Essentially what you are asking is do you prefer the '95-'96 Cyclones to the '96-'97 Cyclones.

Although I voted for Sweet 16, I think most people would tell you that they remember the conference tourney title more than beating Cincy.

I voted Sweet 16, thinking that a deep tourney run would get us more street cred with recruits

Give me the Big 12 championship unless we knock off a 1 seed to get to the Sweet 16.
