Iowa State University discontinued hot tubs in the end zone. That was tragic
The Cedar Rapids Kernels used to have a hot tub over the left field fence. Called it the Home Run Hot Tub. You could enter your name in a drawing at Westdale Mall to get tickets to watch a game from there. I won that drawing twice.

Now both the hot tub and Westdale Mall no longer exist (although the deck for the hot tub still remains in left field).

Schwann's Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple ice cream. Unlike most weak comps, it was a peanut butter ice cream that fudge ripple swirls throughout. It is, by far, the best ice cream I ever had. It was introduced in the early to mid 90s then, very abruptly, it was discontinued around 98 or 99. Schwann's had some salmonella outbreaks and I always wondered if that was the reason it got the axe…..
The recall was about five years before this flavor was discontinued. Unrelated.

Man, Fizzies were a special treat back in my childhood.

I also remember that short-lived period when Hardees decided to add fried chicken to their menu. Add me to the group that didn’t know the curly fries had gone to that big menu in the sky - I just don’t go to fast food places much any more, although Hardees’ mushroom & Swiss (and the hot ham & cheese) remain top tier.

My submission to the thread is shoe related … every time I find an athletic shoe style I like, as soon as they wear out I find the company stopped making them. Goes back to my high school days, when I wore a pair of Stan Smith sneakers from adidas pretty much every day for the better part of two or three years - I even ran track in those bad boys. When it was time to replace them, nope … those weren’t made any more. Okay, in that specific case it might have been that adidas made them to last so long they realized they’d never make as much of a profit as they would on shoes that wore out quicker …

Wow on running track in Stan Smiths! You likely know this but they are making them again. https://www.adidas.com/us/stan_smit...ds&is_retargeting=true&pid=googleadwords_temp

That's some solid recollection.

Doesn't change the fact it was a downright shame it was discontinued. I would have been like one of those chain smokers with emphysema that smokes until their last breath. "Sir your arteries are clogging and you need to stop eating the ice cream".

"But....I just....can't.....stop!"

Testifying
When GM discontinued Pontiac was a heartbreaker. I owned a few during highschool/college years. Wish I could still find one without a gazillion miles.
Iowa high schoolers in the 80s/90s/00s was a right of passage.
Usually there's be atleast one electrical problem where a window or lock wouldn't work.

My first one was an 86 6000. Didn't need a key for the ignition.

Had a Grand Am with the thinnest plastic possible for a rear bumper. Didn't even have to bump it hard to crack it or break a piece off. It was, however, a totally sweet forest green...

My dad is a mechanic and the Firebird was one of the cars he vetoed for my first car. The other was the Jeep Wrangler(?) I think, whichever model was cheapest at the time and was everywhere.
