What's your motivation?

So 24 of the last 26 days I've gone to the gym. It's becoming more and more difficult for me to keep finding motivation. Listening to "Lose Yourself" by Eminem on repeat can only motivate so much for so long.

What do people here do for their motivation? Not even necessarily for workouts, but for anything you do on an almost daily basis that can feel like it's becoming monotonous.

Uhm, well you know. I would explain, but this is a family forum.

I've been attempting to be healthier and work out since the day after the spring game this year. My motivation is that I want to get to where I have never been before. One thing I have learned is that you don't have to push yourself to the extreme everyday, just do something that is going to improve yourself. For myself, I started eating healthy for the first month. After that, I added a little bit of cardio, not a crazy amount, but more than I was doing. Now I am doing some strength training, I use dumbbells because I enjoy workouts with dumbbells. You gotta find what fits you, don't make yourself fit the workout.

When I see the results I want to work even harder. I workout 6 days a week and take Sunday off to recover. Your hard work paying off is what does it for me.

I don't know. That's a really good question and now that I think about it I realize I've just been going through the motions and am unhappy with a lot. At the same time I am thankful to have a house and job and wife. Maybe now tha the dreams I had as a child have faded away there's nothing special to keep me going.

I used to work out 4 times per week do I suppose getting back to that would be good but for some reason I come home and watch baseball instead.

Wal-Mart.
Just walk through a Wal-Mart, any of them of them will do.
Then ask yourself if you want to look like them?

You'll be back in the gym with a renewed sense of urgency.

I think I need to find a "chip on my shoulder" type of thing. That's generally how I motivate myself for everything else in life, I just need to find a way to equate it to this.

This may sound horrible, but both of my wife's parents died relatively young and she is convinced that she's doomed to follow in their footsteps. I motivate myself by motivating her, but also in the knowledge that I need to stay around for my daughter in case my wife's prediction is right.

Oh, and sometimes I'll look at old high school classmates on Facebook and ask myself, "Do you want to look like that?" That does the trick, too.

Not of this World
Reminding myself why I do what I do. Keeping the dreams and goals in front of me at all times.
And the desire to hear "Well done good and faithful servant" on judgment day.

I just love learning new things. It doesn't really help when specifically talking about working out. However, knowing that just eating less will lead to 20-40% longer life. Doesn't require much effort and saves a little money, that I can get behind. Now finishing a project or something is a different story.

I started running again a few days ago. Part of the reason I did it was because I noticed I was getting a bit of a gut, and considering I'm single, I wanted to do something about that. If nothing else, it'll be a good confidence booster. Also, I ran cross country in high school, and even though I sucked it was cool being able to do a mile as a warmup. I've been talking about wanting to get back in shape and decided now was as good a time as any
