Birth. I’ve been going to Iowa State games my entire life. I was evidently at “The Run” game as a 2 year old but I have no recollection of it. My family has had football season tickets for as long as I can remember and for a time I lived and died by the results. I remember being near tears after we lost to Nebraska on the failed 2 point conversion.

Freshman yr 1980, picked ISU because of my major. Going to tailgating and FB with friends. Then when Johnny came to Ames and went to every dorm floor, fraternity and sorority on campus to get kids to go to games, borrowed a friends ticket the night Barry Stevens made it rain against Mizzou, had season tickets ever since.

I was enrolled to go to Iowa after my Senior year of high school (my middle sister was in pharmacy school there) but I kept getting letters from Iowa State. I think I even had my dorm assignment. I finally decided to visit Iowa State and thought this place is awesome and actually wants students! I withdrew from Iowa and joined the good guys. Best decision ever. I can’t say I’ve ever been a huge football fan, but I did get to shadow the team doctor for about a month during spring training which was fun. I almost exclusively went to wrestling during my college years (2000-2004).

Rooted for the Cyclones when they were on TV growing up (usually bball, always hated the j-hox). Wasn't a diehard fan until 2001, it was my freshman year and the family drove down to KC for the game against FSU.

He was IN!

My parents took me to my 1st game as a kid and this was the guy I remember being "our guy".
I still remember my dad getting us fired up about going to see him play.
That's where it all started for me.

Pretty much my whole family graduated from ISU. There was a time when I was a kid that I thought I was a Hawk fan in elementary. I remember pretty well a couple of kids in my class we're real dbag hawk fans that talked endless crap about ISU. One of them was my best friend at the time. I decided then and there to cheer for ISU because I didn't want to be like that. He moved away after elementary school. I saw him many years later at a bar in Ames. I had just graduated from ISU with my masters degree. He had just gotten out of prison.
