Where does this team find shooting NEXT year even?

I'm sure Prohm let him come back and hang with the team when he was such a cancer....
Prohm is a nice man. You know he loves his players, even former ones who cared more about their NBA playing future than the team success. He wouldn't bar anyone from coming back

There are lots of those going around the forum right now. I am disappointed and I don't think Prohm is the right guy for the job right now but some of these takes are ridiculous. I am also hoping Prohm can figure it out and right the ship.

IMO I don't know how anyone can say he is or isn't the right guy until after next season. The 2017-2018 season was inevitable and he 100% gets a pass on that season. He bounced back with a hell of a recruiting class and a 6 seed but unfortunately lost some really good guys early. If anyone is being relatively realistic you have to give him next year, especially with the class he has put together. This fan base has been divided on Prohm ever since he took the job and there are a lot of people who never gave him a chance.

Haven’t read much of this thread but:
1- XF is a true stretch 4 who can hit 3’s.. He’s also physically ready. This alone changes isu offense drastically imo.

2- Dubar is 6’7 wing who is an excellent defender who is long and very athletic who is capable of hitting 3’s.

3- Jaden W and Blackwell are both long and athletic and good defenders who can both shoot deep.

4- Javon Johnson(sit out) 6’7.. long and athletic and indications from this inside say he’s been very solid.

5- Bolton, Tre, Grill... I highly doubt we see any of these 3 get worse from 3pt line. Tre and Grill just aren’t ready but we have no choice.

6- 1-2 more will be added to this roster in spring/summer..

So you ask where will shooting come from? I ask where will defense come from.. this incoming class plus Javon will add at least (6) new pieces... that’s a ton.

next years team imo won’t even look close to this years team..good or bad that’s yet tbd..

it’s imperative Prohm holds onto upcoming class

I am saying the way things look RIGHT NOW he is not the guy for the job. I have been a full on Prohm guy up until a couple weeks ago I began questioning. I am down on him right now but I can certainly (and hopefully will) change my mind.

3 of the key guys we were counting on for this year and next left early. Horton-Tucker, Wigginton and Lard. We aren't a good enough program to just reload after losing that much talent so their early departures killed us.

I agree with this but what is most troubling to me is the severe lack of fundamentals. Name a good rebounder on this team, name a guy that seems to understand defensive rotations. A person would be hard pressed to be able to consistently point out fundamental basketball. Even if you are under talented, that doesn’t mean to go under screens on a shooter or fail to box out for rebounds. It’s bizarre to me that these things aren’t being fixed.

There are a lot of other areas we need to improve besides three point shooting. Let’s start with defense, working the ball around more on offense to get better shots, not driving wildly down the lane only to take off balance circus shots, starting each game with energy and focus, pick and roll defense, and boxing out / rebounding. Among other things...

Agree with all this BUT 3-point shooting is still the primary problem. There's just no way to game plan around the fact that your two starting "shooting guards" are making less than 30% of their threes, as are your two guards off the bench. I still want to say "they're better than this; it's an anomaly" but we're 14 games in.

Yeah thats not what THT told Graham. He was homesick the first two weeks of college. He didn’t know if he was going to fit it. He wanted to work as hard as he could to realize his NBA dreams. 75% of all freshmen have the same feelings about being homesick and wondering if they are going to fit in.

I have been told THT would have come back if not for the potential to be taken in round 1. You can’t blame the kid for going especially since the G-League is legitimate now and real development takes place.

Failure to box out and poor rebounding in general is by far my biggest complaint with Prohm's teams.

But last year we heard they were the problem because they weren't 'buying in'. It's just one excuse after another.

I just talked to Coach Brown our new hs coach who was Tre Jackson Coach in high school. He could not believe Tre was not making his 3's. He said he was automatic when he had an open 3.. He said he was going to give Tre a call.

Boggles my mind that so many don't understand that rebuilding should not look like this ever. losing at home to low major opponents or getting beat by 30 on your home floor. Last night we would have lost by over 30 had Steve not kept his starters in against Bills walkons. Steve is breaking records at Iowa State in a bad way with some of these losses.

Maybe coach Brown is a better coach than Steve.

Even in rebuilding years you see glimpses of hope and promise and that has not been the case this year. Even our "hidden" gem in Conditt is getting less minutes than inferior players in the lineup.
