I'm in Raleigh and was wondering the same thing. There is a home Hurricane's game, but not until 8 pm ET, so I would guess that with a 6 pm start time, the Ale Houses would be a good place to watch. That would probably be your best chance in Wake Forest. Not sure what will happen to the TVs once it hits 8 pm. Some of the Ale Houses are a little extreme about Hurricane watching.

NC is that big of a hockey market? That surprises me.

This is a down year for them, but normally, the home game atmosphere is pretty impressive. Making a couple of Stanley Cup finals and winning one sure helps, as does being the only pro team in town. College basketball may be king in general, but NC State hasn't done much lately, most of the ACC basketball sizzle occurs in a two-month span from mid-February to mid-April, and there are a lot of northern transplants in Raleigh who are hockey fans in general. The two guys who sit closest to me at work are a Red Wings fan from Michigan via Chicago and a Penguins fan from Pittsburgh.

Either way, for now, I'll stick by my recommendation to the OP and suggest the Wake Forest Ale House.
