If Sturdy or Klenakis is hired as OC it will be:

1.) a hilarious Cyclone Fanatic meltdown to watch.
2.) awesome when they are successful and winning 7-9 games a season becomes a reality.

I voted Mangino but think Flynn should be on the list. Would like to have a separate qb coach and have that be either Flynn or Rosenfels.

Based on the restriction on the number of assistant coaches the OC will also most likely be coaching QB's.

as I stated in a different thread, my ideal scenario is:

Christensen - As OC and QB coach
Flynn - As RB and Texas recruiter

But I will add, bring Sage in as a consultant to work with the QB's. This can be used to judge Sage's interest in coaching and see how well he coaches (since he hasn't done it before). It can be a trial run for him and when we have a position open in the future he can step in.

I am not sure of the rules regarding consultants, but Texas had Greg Robinson working with them as a consultant while Manny Diaz was their DC, then when they fired Manny Greg stepped in and took over.

My vote is for Christensen, with Mangino a close second. Both are guys who have experience and success with offenses in the Big 12 at non-traditional schools. Christensen with the slight edge due to having less baggage.

how appealing is the position right now though, No doubt in my mind the most talented WR's ever, a very capable running back in wimberly and an O line that will be much improved. I gotta think if pollard is willing to pay, we could pick anyone who is a realistic candidate.

I'm betting it will be the exact same reaction we had when Messingham was promoted from within.

I didn't call them on the list specifically because I really think if they were going to make that move, they would have already done so (at least internally, given the season we were having). This time it feels like it will be an outside hire.

Lane Kiffin on Dan Patrick says he would consider an OC job for the right head coach. No thanks.

Plus with how horrible the offense has been (except the last 2 games), there's no way other than up.

My only concern with Christensen is the following people:

Gary Pinkel
Brad Smith
Chase Daniel
Blaine Gabbert

Pinkel was an OC and has been an awesome recruiter of both QB and overall offensive players. Not hard to look good as OC at Missouri when you have NFL QB talent.

I think the odds of Klenakis getting the nod are fairly high. The question becomes, then, would a Mangino or someone similar take an assistant job focusing just on QBs. Let's face it, Klenakis & Sturdy had both been OC's and came to ISU for a job, albeit a 'lesser' position. Maybe someone else would come in at a position coach like they did, however is would then pose the question of how would the RB-position coach be addressed in a situation like this?

The offensive line had its trials and tribulations this year, no doubt. However, they were young, had a rash of injuries, and were running a new system. With experience gained and talent in the fold (most maybe 1 year away but they are there) we most definitely do not want change within this component of our players and existing system. Now the quality of the opponents went downward as the season ended, but there is no denying this unit improved in the face of the aforementioned issues.

Klenakis doesn't get it - then whoever comes in will need to mesh well with him as a coach. That and the QB play are paramount. Playmakers exist at the skill positions and that and working for Rhoads should attract someone with very good qualities and skills. Maybe those names being thrown out there (Schram, Christensen, Mangino, Stitt) will be very willing to do that, who knows. Just think a plan may have been in place for a while considering 2 former OCs are already on staff.

David Yost was pretty important to the rise of Missouri as he was a lead recruiter for them as well as QB coach too. He is currently an 'Insider Receivers' coach as Washington State for Leach.

I voted Stitt, if for no other reason than his great Twitter. #stitthappens

Innovative offensive mind and seems to be a "done more with less" (as far as talent) kind of guy. I know a lot of people didn't go for Herman's "genius", but I think ISU has to play smarter offensively.

Edit: And I completely missed that he's expressed interest in the Wyoming HC job.

Bob Stitt's offense: A college football gold mine

Stitt is interested in the Wyoming position, if he doesn't get that job sign him up.

Wyoming is reportedly looking at Jeff Tedford. Although Stitt might be interested in Wyoming, I posted in the Stitt thread that I don't think Wyoming is going to be interested in Stitt after they've had Christensen.
