Yeah, I mean, who in the Pac-12 could possibly be as good as Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan State, and Norhtwestern. Ohio States schedule was a total joke.

They played exactly 3 good teams all year, barely beat Notre Dame, got smoked by Michigan, and Penn State is even debatable whether they are good since they didn't beat anybody.

This is stupid take.
I like to crap on the PAC-12 with the best of them but if any other league (maybe not the Big 12 because we don’t play good football apparently to the pundits) had a top-6 with those records we would be propping them up as toughest in the country. They will have 6 teams in the final CFP top-25 most likely.

Penn State says hello from a few years ago when Ohio State made it in over them despite the following:

1. Lost to Penn State
2. Penn State won the division Ohio State plays in
3. Penn State won the conference Ohio State plays in
And was promptly blanked 31-0 by #01 Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. At least when Alabama was gifted a mulligan, they actually won the National Championship.

That being said, neither team deserves a mulligan this year, and Alabama would lose to any of the CFP contenders IMO.

OSU got crushed. USC lost by one to a ranked team on the road. Plus late season loses matter more. Always have always will.
Also, it’s not part of the criteria but you know they always want to have the Heisman winner in the CFP if they can. I mean damn, I want to watch Caleb Williams on the biggest stage. Guy has been insane the last few weeks.

Big 10 this year is just awful. Makes the pac 12 look like the SEC on steroids.

Big 10 west is just unbelievably bad. It's been an absolute insult that those teams play the schedule they do for the last several years. There's a reason Iowa is known as the fake ID.

Yeah it was so stupid to put in Ohio State that year because Penn State had two losses instead of one. We did get that insane Rose Bowl though because of it between Darnold and McSorley if my memory is correct. That game was bananas

Kevin Warren stammered on (as expected) after the game about how great Ohio State was and that there is no question they should be in the playoff. But if you look at their season they had some lackluster performances besides the Michigan game - Northwestern, Maryland, first half against Iowa their offense was anemic. They have two quality wins — Notre Dame and Penn State — and lots of wins vs dog crap Big 10 teams. After Penn State there isn’t a good team in the B1G. Versus the Big 12 has pretty salty Baylor and OU teams in 6th and 7th place in a 10 team conference. Last place Iowa St won at Iowa .

Sidebar: tell me who should win the Heisman over Max Duggan? You put his numbers and comeback wins in an Alabama, Ohio St or USC jersey and it would be a runaway. He’s been elite all season.

Wait til you see this dousy of a schedule. Fake ID of College Football Part 2 in 2024 when Iowa gets their 2015 redux. How the hell does a West team get all 3 East bottom feeders in the same season? Gary Barta must slide a chunk of his inflated salary to the person in charge of B1G scheduling.

Duggan should be invited and be runner up. Caleb Williams has been just stupid good though. That guy had about 6 Heisman moments last night alone. And not even because he plays for a blue blood. That team is nowhere near the CFP without him. Not that TCU is either without Duggan so not insinuating that. I would go Williams, Duggan then Corum in that order for top 3 if I had a vote.

Holy sweet christ. That schedule is a total joke. If I didn't already know, I'd think it was made up

Penn State is, and almost always is, one of the most overrated teams in the country every year. The feast on the crap that is the big 10. And get beaten easily by Michigan and Ohio State.

Penn St would likely have a losing record in the B12. Possibly the last place team in this conference.

I dunno…I’m not arguing the Pac12 is a strong conference, but the BIG certainly isn’t either. Both conferences seem similar to me in that they both have some ranked teams (besides their top team), but lots of weak teams.

Pac12 has Utah, Oregon, Oregon St, and Washington. BIG has tOSU, Penn St., and maybe Illinois as teams that have been ranked for a good chunk of the season. So, I’d say it’s a toss-up if we’re arguing conference strength.

USC vs tOSU in a head-to-head match up…I’m not sure tOSU is as dominant as you think. They both beat an above-average ND team by a comfy margin. It would be a shootout and I’d give the edge to USC given tOSU’s pitiful display on defense yesterday.
Oregon State is very good this year! I have no doubt they would have won the B1G West with 9-11 wins (depending on the draw from the East). Even with the draw, I think they are even with Penn State and would have a puncher's chance with Michigan and Ohio State. Basically, I think the Pac is better than the B1G this year, and I would not have said that before the season started. I hope the Beavers draw a B1G team in their Bowl Game so they can end 10-3.

OSU is good because they best a highly ranked team that even the game day people were laughing at Michigans schedule and saying it proved they had t played anyone? That’s circular logic there. The big ten is SO AWFUL that a team we beat (worst team in the big 12) nearly played in their CCG.
You've talked me into it. The pac12 is better than the big10..You go!!

Have you seen the top of the PAC 12? They have 2 10+ win teams and four others with 9 wins…
I watched the pac head east in the noncon and look terrible. Who's the pac playing out west? Fresno? Hell, the big12 has a team in it's conference championship game who lost to Tulane at home. I hope TCU and USC make it. Match them with Michigan and Georgia. Gonna be the same results it's been for years now. Top big10 and sec schools have been better and until something changes I'm not thinking different. Hope vegas thinks the same way some of u are because I'll make some serious dough if they do.

I enjoyed watching Oregon St beat Oregon last night. I am still salty about Oregon taking two of our recruits that much of our fanbase believed were coming to Ames (Blake Purchase and the other guy that I can’t remember now).

I’m with you though, Pac12 is a better conference than the BIG this year…and for that reason, USC should get the nod if everyone wins out next week. Plus, as another poster pointed out, late season losses matter more.

I will give you the SEC. What has the Big Ten done to be looped in with them at the CFP level outside of Ohio State in the first year? Also let’s see the East coast teams head west. Going cross country is brutal even at the professional level. Oregon did just win at Ohio State recently

All the big10 has done is be slightly below the SEC which they are. I think it's pretty general knowledge the SEC has been the best and big10 #2. We're talking USC and the pac this year. I don't really care about Oregon beating Michigan a couple years ago. Only reason people remember is because it was a surprise. Pac12 football is not on par with the big10. Ohio State, Michigan, or Penn State could have easily won the pac this year. All 3 would have probably won the big12. SEC? LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia all would have won also. Time will tell. I don't think Michigan or the big10 will win it all this year either, but if there wasn't an SEC option I'd say they would. Michigan/Georgia would be far more competitive than Georgia/USC. What's USC done anyway. Look at their schedule. Lot of close games against so so schools..We'll know in Jan
