What's Jim Tressel up to nowadays? Maybe we could give him a ring and offer a couple new sweater vests if he agrees to come to Ames.
I don't really want to see CPR go anywhere but if he does I'd be calling Tom Herman and Dan McCarney, when I strike out there Klieman or Mangino would be good choices too. The UWW coach isn't too far off considering half of the talent here is D3 talent anyway.
No on Tom Herman and Danny Mac will not be coming back here. Not that it's a good idea but Pollard wouldn't do it.
I asked this awhile back...I like it because Sweater Vest has years left in him, would no doubt like to leave a positive legacy and could recruit well in our geographic region.
It sort of feels like a Johnny situation (minus Tressel's baggage, of course).
Or keep the existing staff and watch your $60MM addition fail. You can't add seats to a stadium with back to back 2 wins seasons. You have to do something to keep the fans faith to buy tickets.
If the crowd for the OU game is any indication of how fans are starting to feel about the program - you will see about 30K butts in a 60K stadium.
Announced attendance was 50,784. That is the number that counts.
We will sell tickets for next year no matter what. JP can sell ice to eskimos. Look for no single game sales to UNI or Iowa possibly. Look for a return to the Mini-Pacs if necessary.
We will not have back to back 2 win seasons. We had 3 wins last year. Cyclone fans love the tailgating and will buy tickets into the new expanded stadium. At least for one more year. Another year like this and Rhoads will exit like Mac. He will not be fired. 5.63 million reasons why he won't and it is all due 60 days after termination.
announced versus attended. Maybe you are right, but writing a check for $5K next spring to watch this crap is not what i am looking to sign up for. I am guessing there will be a few people feeling the same as i do. Glad you have confidence in our AD to sell ice to an eskimo, i just wish he didn't have to. I wish we had a product that we couldn't wait to get our checkbooks out for (like Hoiball).
Also if JP is such a great salesman, guessing he can sell the idea to some of the big donors to pre-pay some donations for a 60 day window.
