So our sixth man last year was more talented than Aaron White? I can get on board with that
Didn't read the thread, but if starting a team it would be with ISU's point guard, period.

And Niang, McKay, Nader, etc
Ya I'm not understanding his point
He is trying to justify a loss to a top 20 team by stating how "talented" their entire team is.
I don't have to justify anything. Iowa has 2 true road losses this year and they are at ISU and at Maryland. Two of the most difficult places to play in the country and two top 10 caliber teams.
I would've ranked them high coming into the season with the returning talent plus Stone, but Trimble is not attacking the rim this year nearly as much, Stone goes from being great to being utterly lost, and Sulaimon makes some great plays followed by some WTF shots and terrible passes. Maybe it's too many guys focused on improving their draft stock. For whatever reason to this point they have not been impressive. They may put it together and go on a run. They are capable. Last night they were just flat out missing open looks.
Sometimes fitting talented pieces together into a great team is tough. As of now they are a good team with great talent.
Maryland is easily the most talented team Iowa has played this year but I doubt they'll be the "best" team.
Iowa didn't play all that well but was in the game until the very end. I don't think they have anything to hang their heads about. A lot of teams would kill to have a guy like Gesell in their lineup but he's also a liability out there with his inability to hit one-on-ones in crunch time and inopportune turnovers. He did both vs ISU and Maryland

Maryland didn't play particularly well either. That never seems to get mentioned.
If we're using an individual game to make our cases, I pick Niang's 4-15 11 point effort in the NCAA tournament vs UAB.
I personally wouldn't prefer to use 1 game only, but that seems to be the gameplan after Uthoff has his worst game of the season.
That's a bingo
Maryland played like crud and still beat a 'top 5' team

Iowa played like crud and still barely lost to a top 10 team.
