Way up there
Thomas and Nader shouldn't have dunked either time after those turnovers, the smart thing to do would have been to pull the ball out and waste some clock. Prohm needs to get control of these guys

Back to the original topic. If I could have one player from ISU it would be Morris. I wasn't sure if he was a 1st rounder prior to this year mostly because I just didn't think he could shoot from the outside well enough for the NBA. He is a good enough shooter and is so good at every other aspect of the position that I wish him well next year (Bulls).

Under a minute up 12 is completely different scenario....with zero defenders anywhere near you. Not the case with Georges' play.

Niang had a better career, Uthoff is going to have a better peak season.

Debatable point, but far from a certainty like you suggest. It'd be easier to argue Niang is having a better season.

Uthoff -- 29.7 MPG, 48.7% FG, 84.1% FT, 18.9 PTS, 6.2 REB, 1.3 AST, 3.0 BLK, 0.8 STL, 1.1 TO
Niang -- 32.7 MPG, 52.5% FG, 85.1% FT, 19.3 PTS, 6.4 REB, 3.2 AST, 0.7 BLK, 0.9 STL, 2.3 TO

and just for giggles, here is Morris:

Morris -- 37.0 MPG, 53.9% FG, 68.4% FT, 15.5 PTS, 4.0 REB, 7.0 AST, 0.4 BLK, 2.1 STL, 1.5 TO

Better blocks and turnovers per game certainly = having a "better peak year". Hell, with those numbers we should be talking player of the century.........

Iowa fans' ability to blindly declare anything hawkeye as better simply because it's hawkeye is an eternal source of comedy. I guess when you haven't seen a decent player in awhile what Uthoff is doing would look like the best thing ever.

He did attack 1 on 2 with 2 mins left up 10 and about 25 secs on the shot clock. Dumb basketball rewarded by getting the foul call. He's an intelligent player but that's just dumb.

Maybe if iowa had attacked more when they had a comfy lead they would have beat the clones.

If Uthoff were selected as the Wooden Award recipient then it's not worth the paper it's written on.

Points being made by the Hawks:

1. We should play not to lose once we have a lead - How did that work for them in Ames?

2. The B1G puts teams in the Final Four - well, except for Iowa. Therefore, who the **** cares? Will they ever stop riding MSU and Wisconsin's coat tails?

3. Uthoff is a better player - well, except at the end of the game. When it really counts and your team needs you the most. That is Gesell time! Kind of like if there was only a few seconds left in the game and Morris, Niang, Nader, Thomas, and McKay didn't want the ball and would rather have Stu Nezlek try for the game winning shot.

Fun narrative for you but it's been made clear that it actually does count. NCAA's VP for MBB has said as much. Sorry.

The way to know your program isn't big time...is when you argue the merits of getting bounced in the PIG game that's not even on anybody's bracket.

Niang had a better career, Uthoff is going to have a better peak season.

Why, because he produces less and is less of a vocal leader? Because he's a thug transfer? Or are we not doing that anymore?

They're both playing amazing, whoever puts the team on their back more and wins meaningful postseason games will probably seem to have had the better season. Niang's career speaks for itself.

I can agree with that I guess. You just have to think that if he misses and it goes the other way for a 3, it's a whole new ball game. That's why most coaches would take the air out of it at that point. It's just an unnecessary risk really.

Gosh, I just LOVE hindsight discussions. It's anyone's chance to be a genius. I would imagine Niang's basketball IQ to be in the high upper range of all players......if he thinks it's a good idea to take the ball to the hole when he has a distinct advantage, I'm not gonna argue with him.

Yeah, not much of a stretch there at all. Was just correcting someone who still doesn't think Iowa made the tourney two years ago.

To be fair that someone is the general population of college basketball fans

The play in game against Tenn doesn't really count. Forgot to mention ISU's winning record over Iowa. Also more conference titles.

I forgot about Iowa's elite 8 team in 87 (88?) . So yeah, Iowa doesn't have a better program than ISU over the last 30 years. :twitcy:

Was just making a comment about the tournament because I was curious.

Speaking of the F4, you've never been. Also, my apologies for the worldwide leader in sports and every other credible writer/analyst picking Uthoff over George.
