Why do refs hate Cam?

College refs are increasingly inconsistent and fond of anticipation calls. At a high rate Lard gets called for stuff that goes uncalled just as often for other players.

Those ******** calls result in foul trouble when in combination with his tendency to put himself in situations prone to contact and legitimate fouls

Also, why doesn't Babb ever get fouls called on his drives to the basket. Maybe it's just me but it looks like he gets fouled a lot.
I say this every game. We get half the fouls called our way when we drive the basket that every other team gets all day.

I'm hoping in the tournament that it might change for him getting away from the referees that officiate Big 12 games.

There was a foul called on cam against kansas st that was absolutely inexcusable. The shotclock was down to 1 or 2 and cam was standing straight up with his hands straight up and just before the shot clock expires they call a foul on him. I rewound it 4 or 5 times and he did absolutely nothing.

Also planted his feet last night about four steps before the KU player (think it was Charlie Moore) flat out ran over him in the paint and they called a block.

Unless he got him with the body that I couldn't see on the replay, I didn't see any contact at all on the And-1 foul he got called for on the fastbreak yesterday.

But yea, he gets his share of legit fouls but gets at least 1 total ghost call each game.

Yeah, that one stuck out to me as being an awful call against him.

I know he didn't play too much yesterday, but I thought the minutes he gave us were pretty solid ones, phantom fouls notwithstanding.

I do think some of the calls against him are BS, but another huge factor... he has a reputation as an aggressive shot blocker and is scouted as such. Opposing players are coached to go into his body and arms and create contact on the shot.

It keeps happening because he lets players get in underneath him and into his body. His anticipation and defensive positioning tend to be poor. Rather than being in an athletic stance to protect his space, he is often standing straight-up, flat footed and only thinking about the block.

There's definitely times he doesn't actually foul the guy but the refs are going to anticipate it when you've let the offensive guy get into or past you.

I think part of it he doesn’t sell it or flail that much. Lindell gets a ton of calls and I don’t know if he’s that good at selling it or is just so out of control. Probably a bit of both

Part of it is that he goes straight up when he gets to the hoop. He does not contort his body and make it look like there is contact like Lindell. I will give it to Lindell, he has it down like an art, especially from three.

It sure seems like refs are calling WAY more phantom fouls than before (on Cam and others). Isn’t a rule as an official that you need to SEE a foul before you call it and not call all of these anticipation fouls???

Lard has gotten a lot of BS calls this year. He has also got his money's worth on several calls too. Thought he was playing great post defense against KSU, and their guy tried to times to muscle him out of there 4 times and Cam moved his feet and stayed straight up and still got called. After the way ISU's post players have been mugged in the post, it kind of pissed me off.

Babb falls down on every single lay up. I think that is why the refs don't call things, they aren't buying it. It often leads to 5 on 4 at the other end, especially when he misses.
