the refs needed to know that they blew some big calls against kansas... only way to let them know is boo... dendy was tackled in med dunk and no call... booing was needed...

Its kind of embarrassing that we boo EVERY call that doesn't go our way. We are the laughing stock of college basketball because of how much our fans boo.

What was embarrassing was the vulgar language that was clearly audible on the TV coming from the student section during the Texas game . That, my friend, is embarrassing. Like the swearing from the students during a football game that was audible as well.

Don't take the guys over at phog.net too seriously. Criticizing us for booing is some sort of bizarre obsession for them. Just watch a game at Phog Allen and you'll know that we're no worse about it that they are. They'd boo the refs when they're up 60 against somebody like Central Alaska State College. They're like NU football fans; "How dare they call something against us?!? Do they know who we are?!?"

It didn't help that yesterday's officiating was awful. I only booed once (which is a lot for me, I almost never boo), and that was at the no-call on Dendy's dunk attempt. There were a couple obvious travels right in front of me they didn't call that may me throw my hands up and say "What the hell?", and after the first half I thought to myself "It's hard enough to beat Kansas, how are we supposed to win when we're playing them and the refs?"

That said, the officiating didn't cost us that game.

During the KU@ISU game a year ago, Hilton rained down with boos for not just one, but all five of Cameron Lee's consecutive intentional fouls. Honestly, I'd never seen anything like it. I can understand booing at bad calls a few times a game, but sometimes at Hilton it seems like every whistle is greeted with a chorus of boos.

It was four consecutive fouls (he later fouled out) and it was because he was going for the steal for the first one, knocked it free and was called for a foul because they assumed he was going to foul. The boos were directed at that first foul for the remaining three fouls. Seriously, every fanbase does it...

Its TV's responsibility to put it on delay or don't tune it to the student section after a bad call.

I love all the idiots around me who want hand checking, 3 seconds, traveling on basically every play of the game.

Its comical listening to them.

Booing can just be fun if done right. Keeps your mind off how bad your team is. Booing every last play in the Texas AM football game last year from 8 minutes on in was pretty fun. Love the guy in the front row of section G in Jack Trice who gets it going!

I truly think that a lot of people at Hilton remember the Phantom 3 that occurred at Smog Allen and that it is in the backs of their minds every time KU comes to Ames now. That still is, without a doubt, the most egregious officiating error I have ever witnessed. It even tops the blarge, as that was at least a judgment call. Everyone at Hilton KNOWS that the officials were trying to make sure KU won that game, and for me at least it is the root of all of my booing aimed toward the officials when KU is in town now and going forward.

No, we're the laughing stock of college basketball because we haven't beaten a ranked team in 4 years and have the worst coach in our conference.

Booo, this thread sucks! Did you watch the game saturday? Its not why we lost but there were so many calls that ****** me off. Especially the Hamilton block on their 1st posession of the 2nd half-that actually was a game changer on momentum to start the half and his 4th foul.

I know the non-band side of the student section was booing for the 2 kansas fans who came down to cyclone alley for their hat back and decided to start taunting as they toured the section. (the whole hat thing was kinda pathetic on the cyclone fan's part, but the taunting just multiplied the animosity towards the guys) The cops having to escort the guy who "accidentally" fell down the stairs into them as they were leaving also got their share of boos.

What silly thread. If we are the laughing stock..it is due to the product on the floor.

I wouldn't say the officiating necessarily cost us the game, but I do think it took our guys out of it a bit. Its tough to figure out how you're supposed to play when they let the hard stuff go, and call the ticky tacks. Also, the no calls on the obvious travels cost us 6-8 points--maybe more, if we score on the other end.

If you think we boo a lot you should attend a Kansas game. I swear every Big 12 tournament game I've seen Kansas play in every whistle regardless if it was an obvious call the KU fans boo. I don't think KU has ever really committed a foul in their existance based on how their fans react to every call.

It's already been said but I'll say it again - it is certainly NOT just ISU that boos every call...

And you can tell a good call from a bad call by listening to how loud the booing is - there is a big difference. It's part of the game
