Once the four 16 team superconferences are formed there may be a decent 12 or 16 team conference by merging the remnants of the Big East, Big 12 and the best of the Mountain West. You could also look at the best of a CUSA.

If everyone goes mega to 16, there would definitely be possibilities to build from something viable from some pretty decent scraps ... but so much depends on which teams end up in Pac-10, Big Ten & SEC.

Certainly some possibilities if Big East were plundered, but the trouble is, the Big Ten would have to take some of those -- we assume Syracuse, Rutgers and maybe UConn ... but Cincy/UL/Pitt would leave fewer for the ex-Big 12. Unless Notre Dame suddenly took the plunge. Otherwise, B10 would take KU and Mizzou and that would further weaken the base.

The Big 12 is dead, the sooner you realize that the sooner you can move on. I am going to bet a shiny new dime that ISU will not get any buyout money from the schools leaving. They will all find some legal loophole to make it out ok.

Agree, anyone that thinks Texas is going to give ISU or anyone else one dime is absolutely crazy.
