Why are the Kansas schools spring games weeks after most other schools?

Seriously, every school is allowed the same number of spring session practices. You can allocate them how you'd like and schedule them when you want or not even have an open spring scrimmage. ISU is no longer practicing as we have used our allotment of spring practice sessions.

Teams get 15 spring practices. it just depends on when each team wants to use them

Ours isn't early, KU & KState are just late. for this years spring games, the 14th was the busiest day, with more schools holding their game that day, with the 21st as the 2nd most popular.

The side bar for Reddit's College football subreddit has a nice breakdown of the spring game schedules.

I echo what everyone else said, however you made one fatal flaw...

It's Purple Kansas, not Kansas Purple. Thanks :jimlad:

It seems odd that Texas has theirs after ours. One would think a north school would push it as far back as possible

we actually almost had it earlier. Rhoads debated it due to recruiting. Most teams try to optimize the contact periods.

Can you elaborate? I don't understand what you mean. Protect them from what?

CPR wanted to make sure that none of the players got involved in any Viesha mishaps during 15 days spring practice. So, he pushed everything up a week. This was a very important spring on a lot of fronts.

How did he push it up a week? The spring game was the same weekend as last year and the year before that.

I actually thought the game was on the end of VEISHEA previous years whereas this year it was right before VEISHEA.
Well this year VEISHEA was a week later. The spring game this year was the 14th, last year the 16th and the year before the 17th.

Did they? I'm pretty sure UT's was before our's.

But K-State and KU have their Spring Games really late, I believe they didn't even start practices while Texas Tech already played their game.

Well this year VEISHEA was a week later. The spring game this year was the 14th, last year the 16th and the year before the 17th.

That's probably the confusion. The game was moved relative to VEISHEA, but not relative to the time of year.
