I'm not saying the clock operators don't need to get it right, just that in this case it didn't matter because the guy took more than 1.6 seconds getting to half court and calling a timeout.
That had to be the case. You'd think at some point coaching staff communicated to call time out after made bucket or players after a playing 30 games would know to call a time out in that situation. Seems like clock operator was on that page. It seemed like Roy somewhat owned up to that in his interview with Craig Sager.
