Color me not impressed with Oakland. Their offense was mostly one guy trying to create, and they still sucked on D. What are they working on in practice?

He was big time get for us out of HS, right up there with Georges. At least the staff was right on one of the two.

Idk if I'd go as far as to say "big time get." He was a 3 star with a few solid offers. Georges became a national recruit his senior year and was reportedly getting pursued by some blue bloods post-commitment. Totally different caliber of recruits.

Not even close. Georges was a top 50-60 recruit. Percy wasn't even top 150 and only had offers from mid-majors, and us. Georges is still one of the higher ranked recruits we've ever gotten. This notion that he came out of no where to be a star is way overblown.

I saw Oakland-Detroit play on ESPNU a few weeks ago. Total thug-ball game! I kept waiting for a street fight to breakout.

Yeah, I think @8milecorn swiped Percy from Dayton.

Yep. He'd might have pulled in Bielfeldt if kept on staff but you can't make a hire based on that. Still chuckle a little to myself when thinking back about a few stories of Doc trying to get 'more' out of Percy.

Georges certainly did not 'come out of no where' as he was the gem of his class. Didn't mean to imply that Gibson was on his level, but Percy was viewed by Fred as a big piece to the class as we needed a big man to replace Godfrey.

This thread reminds me of all the d bag hawk fans over the years that claimed Fred would run off these "poor student athletes" who were at his mercy. He unscrupulously threw them aside in favor of more talented guys. Yet a whole litany of former Clones over the Fred years keep ending up as key players in the NCAA tourney with the schools they transferred to. How the F does that happen???? Couldn't have anything to do with their inability to wait their turn at ISU could it?

But Fred was obviously an A hole and lied to everyone's face.....

Maybe Kerwin Okoro can lead Norfolk State back to the Big dance next year
