I think Rhoads will do well recruiting in ia, Andy Brodell almost went to Pitt because rhoads was recruiting him, but he decided to stay close to home

Not sure that you can really say that. chizik went after Iowa players that deserved schollies. Barrent, Hoch, Lichtenberg, Boffeli, Wegher, Lenz, etc. He even went after Bernstine but then backed off when the legal issues arose.

If he went after them he wasn't very successful. The only one he really got was Boffelli. I wouldn't count Lenz and Lichtenberg as "gets" since nobody else offered them scholarships. And Chizik never "backed off" Bernstine -- please don't make stuff up.

Yeah, please don't make this stuff up--since Iowa just offered Lichtenberg after Chizik left. Beforehand, they obviously didn't see any point.

And considering that Bernstine committed to Iowa before Christmas, right after Chizik was hired, he never really had a shot at him.

Just because someone didn't have success, doesn't mean they didn't try. Iowa had a crying need for skill position players; Davis, Cotton and Wegher obviously recognized that.

I can't say that I am completely disappointed with Chizik's efforts in recruiting. He was going through the motions in Iowa, but we have some great kids from his recruiting classes. I place a lot more fault with what he was able to do with them, and in-game coaching decisions.

When I said chizik didnt rectruit Ia hs players, I meant he didnt recruit them hard enough and I got the feeling he didnt really care if they came or not. Weghers Dad was interviewed at half time of the class 3A championship game and was asked where his son was going next year and Dad responded " Iowa, they wanted him the most and recruited him the hardest" I also talked to James Vandenbergs father at 7on7 camp and asked if he visited ISU and he said "yes but they(ISU) wernt interested. They wanted someone a step faster." Incidently he runs a 4.8 same as AA. But that kid has a great arm. I know their is plenty for you all to shoot down in the above paragraph so lets hear it.

I hope he gets good Iowa players and recruits the marginal kids as walk-ons. I wouldn't mind seeing more Iowans but IMO it will take a generation to get the majority of Iowa HS kids to want to go to ISU over Iowa when they have offers from both. Get the kids that can help the program, recruit the marginals as walk-ons, and go elsewhere for the other kids.

I didn't mind that Mac recruited a lot of Iowans but I think he had a lot of reaches just because they are from the Tall Corn State.
