***WNBA Thread***

I really get tired of hearing about Caitlin Clark and the political firestorm it has created. I do not listen/follow Keith Murphy and Andy Fales to this day because of some of the comments they made about Clark (comparing her to Jackie Robinson).

Clark is incredibly talented.....Clark is so likeable during her interviews....but her behavior on the court has been a problem since she was at Dowling......and I credit Lisa Bluder for everything she did while Clark was at Iowa because it was much more under control in Iowa City than at Dowling or Indianapolis. And I know people on the Iowa WBB staff and it wasn't an easy road to help her with her emotions in Iowa City either.

But this media storm around Clark isn't good for her or her brand....and the loud twitter storm around her isn't helpful either (and neither is the commentary from Murphy and Fales. If I were Caitlin I would want her twitter warriors to stop and if I were Caitlin's parents I would have a firm meeting with her and a brand manager and put a plan in place.

The Fever are playing really well going into the break. They were unwatchable at times earlier in the season, but they are will be tough to beat if the trend continues. Boston and Mitchell are really good. Clark is playing her best of the season. The supporting cast has been better as of late too.

Don't tell the guy up thread a week or so ago that said it was a failed season for CC and crew. If nothing else gets me to watch the WNBA, perhaps having a heel team to root against will. Cc is the WNBA version of Terry Bollea

Did you watch the play? She got fouled, started walking away. Saniya Rivers waved CC off, CC waved Rivers off, Rivers then started yapping at CC saying she had her locked down, and CC responded by saying "scoreboard." It was a double technical, and it was so minor that it was really stupid for either of them to get one. It was also stupid of Rivers to say she had CC locked down given the fact that at the time it happened Indiana was up by 28, and CC had 27 points and 11 assists. Would have been best for CC to just walk away and leave it alone, but she wasn't the one who instigated the yapping.
That's not what I saw. She never walked away, she started crying to the ref about Rivers. She got the foul call and it still wasn't enough from the ref in her mind. She feels so persecuted all the time.

the last couple of years has exposed the WNBA as a joke of a league. There is a ton of drama and mismanagement. If there was more focus on basketball, it would be much more enjoyable. 90%+ of the WNBA headlines have nothing to do with the actual outcome of the games. Most of it is complaints about officiating or about some comments that were made during postgame. The league if more focused on the "any publicity is good publicity".

Foul is called. CC throws ball to ref and backs away a few steps. Rivers waves CC off. CC cries to ref about Rivers' gesture. Rivers starts yapping smack at CC. CC yaps smack back saying "scoreboard."

She didn't "walk away" but she threw the ball to the ref and was taking steps backward not saying anything. Rivers instigated the whole thing by waving her off, and CC responded.

Why is that even a double tech? They were just yapping back and forth.

Crying about the gesture is what started everything. CC does something similar to the gesture probably a dozen of times per game.

I don't know if i agree. As a purely basketball product, I don't think they'll ever be able to compete with the NBA or even men's college. Maybe embracing big personalities and drama is the way to go. Think Terry Bollea and WWE. Entertainment in the foreground and basketball in the background. It might sell the product better

Yeah I disagree. Rivers was the one who started yapping at her first. That's what started the exchange and led to the Ts.
We know where your loyalty is but that is the point. Players know it does not take much to set CC off and get a response and hope she gets a T. She is a very good player and almost every team playing them tries to get her to react and sadly most do. I wish she would see this and just walk away and be the better person but to date she has not.
