Finished this weekend; 3-way DIY speakers. The surface is vinyl veneer over birch ply and MDF. Also black gloss varnish and Exohyde on the trim and baffles. This is a rebuild of an existing project where my better half suggested "easier to clean" surfaces. I still need to apply the black caps to hide the baffle hardware.

Is that quarter sawn oak?
Looks like it but No, the top and shelf are quartersawn Sycamore. The legs and aprons are from solid Birch. Both show extensive Rays.
Glue and dowels, no screws other than a couple to hold the top. Finished in Pecan to match an older golden oak bedroom set.

Ya there's a ton of flame in the wood. Very nice.

What brand is that center channel? I have a 20 year old NHT that looks a lot like that

My FIL brought me a table similar to what could be found in many homes 50-60 years ago for repair. I copied and downsized it and made one for myself and one for a friend who gave me a walnut tree under the premise that I could have it for my own use—not to sell. He had no idea that I made either and when I delivered it to him I did so using a dilapidated cardboard box, the only one I had that was large enough to hold it. His first words were “what kinda sh*t did you bring me now?” After opening the box his jaw dropped and he was at a loss for words—the exact reaction I was hoping for—and he was truly grateful since the tree came from his farm. I think I used almost every tool in my shop to make it but the second one was a lot easier knowing how to create and assemble the pieces.

Built an outdoor couch to go with the rest of the patio furniture I’ve built over the years. Had enough scraps for a bonus drink table as well.

Ignore the exposed ends, need to stain and seal those up still.
How’d you do that couch corner unit? Follow plans or freelance it? Looking at doing something similar.

Wife sent a few examples she liked on Pinterest, and I came up with the rough plans in my head and wrote it down after taking measurements of the patio.

I did map it out slightly in SketchUp to make sure I cut the seat to a length that would accommodate cushions though where I could still get the angle on the backrests up to the height I wanted (to tie in at a good height with the rest two chairs).

Where did you get the Sycamore? It’s hard to find.

A friend who runs his own portable mill. Wanted it out of his barn. I was glad to help. At times I see lots of it, then nothing for a season or two. It's around.

PSA to those using poplar. I found out Titebond 2 and 3 may cause the tannins to turn pink, which sucks. Hopefully it doesn’t show through the finish. I had to hand plane and sand through the over squeeze around the glue joint because the pink bled into the surface. It looked way worse before the pic and took a lot of work to get the top back to level after taking out the area around the joint.

I’m making a gaming desk for my son’s room. Anyone have any recs for an inset LED channel and diffuser? Looking for something I can route out, put in some LED tape and make the diffuser perfectly level with the top. I’m really only finding weird shaped channels or a rounded diffuser that won’t sit flush.

I have never incurred that issue, but on second thought most of my glue-ups go through the thickness sander so maybe I eliminated the problem before I knew it happened. I don't use a lot of poplar with my main use as drawer sides but have jointed some for deep-sided drawers or to use up pieces. I do glue my dovetail joints with T bond 2 or 3 and never experienced the pink.

Not sure of the size and scale you want, but this site has lots of lighting options.
