ditto---that Nebraska team would maul this Baylor team-----I have been going to games since Clyde Williams field...this is the worst defeat by margin---and actually I'm giving the defense credit for keeping it where it was...as Messingham's offense makes it near impossible to win a game.
The defense sucked just as bad as the offense. This team is full of suck in all sorts of places.

Really? Dude just described the last 30+ years of Cyclone football. Hell, the last 100 years of Cyclone football minus a couple of above average seasons in the 70s and 2000s. When there's 100 years of history saying you suck, it makes people a little doubtful that we're ever going to be knocking on the door of 10-win seasons.

The current coaching staff (especially seasons/games like this one) isn't doing a whole lot to instill confidence that we're about to turn the corner / take the next step / (insert lame cliche here).
Geez, we are just like the Cubs.

I know margin-wise this was the worst in history, but I think you can argue that the most disastrous loss in ISU history was 2002 to OU. Top 10 team, Heisman frontrunner, dreams of a Big XII championship........ and got absolutely exposed in Norman. Just a close game would have legitimized us as a program and possibly kept the momentum going on the season, but we all know how that played out.

I mean, think about what was on the line that day and what was on the line today. Not even close.

This was horrible. Much worse in my eyes.

This was the worst. There was no good point in the game unless you count the first defensive stand at the 13 minute mark.

After being Nebraska's b***h for so many years I had forgotten what it was like to humiliated. This rates in there with the 73-14 and 77-14 games.

Wonderful...then you might want to take that same advice. There is no need to be a fatalist about everything. Last time I checked every game in the future has yet to be played.

Well, we could be playing at Home, ranked #3 in the country and getting beat 51-7. But at least we'd be ranked:)

Point is, these are 19-21 year old kids. $HiT happens!

This was the worst. There was no good point in the game unless you count the first defensive stand at the 13 minute mark.

There was that, and West's punt return that followed. Also, defense holding Baylor to those two FG's in the first half. That was pretty much it before the game reached no-chance-of-any-kind territory.

Wimberly had a nice 12-yard run in the third quarter, on first down (I think). That looked good.

Our A.D. took a tremendous gamble by showing Coach Dan the door. The football program suffered a serious setback all because the A.D. was not confident Coach Dan could take ISU to the next level. This is not about the football coaches, the question is whether or not the A.D. should be held accountable for a gamble which is looking increasingly disastrous. The A.D. made a big picture move to take the football program to the next level and the big picture is not looking good. The problem is not the coaches--the problem is an A.D. who blew up a fragile football program only to leave the fans now wishing the program could be back to where it was when the A.D. declared "not good enough".

Worst post of the day. The AD gave Dan the boot because the fans had given up on him. Declining ticket sales weren't Pollard's fault, they were Dan's own making. The fans declared "not good enough" by not showing up for games and not donating. The AD has to look out for the entire department (including the non-revenue sports, for better or worse) and when football steers the ship it has to be a revenue generator. If the fans weren't going to support Dan, the AD had no choice but to bring in someone the fans would spend money to see.

Thanks for the advice, I'll file that in the same space of my brain that I'm filing tonight's game.

That's great news! If you're already dwelling on 30...no, 100 years of ISU sucktiude...I can only assume that is going to be at the front of your mind for a while.

But in all honesty...really...what is it about posting "oh we've sucked for 100 years so we will suck forever"? What purpose does that really serve...and why be such a fan if that is how you really feel? Maybe you are just venting your frustration because you're upset about a terrible game, and you want to bring other fans with you...I don't know. If that is the case though, why not post something about the actual play, or an actual problem?

Worse one I can remember, been a fan for 25 years. Sorry we are going backwards and this loss does hurt recruiting, ticket sales, fan support, optimism etc, etc. this was an embarrassment.

Without a doubt, this was the worst performance in ISU football history I remember the 77 point Nebraska loss and we actually played better in that game than we did in Waco on Saturday.

It wasn't the worst loss, but it mostly negates the OSU 2011 upset.

Yeah, I said it.

As thrilling, memorable and unprecedented as that was, its short-term value as a program-perception turnaround is beginning to fade.
