Would TJ drop everything and take the ISU job if it came open?

It’s not even about losing to a mid major. That’s a swing that has been taking place for awhile now in CBB. SDSU is a good team I can recognize that. It’s more about how we’re playing than the results for me. There’s no innovation, there’s no bold moves being made in real time, there’s just a lot of blah in the way we play. Prohm seems to have a problem with either he has a great PG or he doesn’t, and that drives everything. TBF to him he lost one early in TH but he’s got another good TH coming in next year.

Having a good/great PG is like having a good/great QB -- it papers over a lot of other flaws.

There are plenty of NFL teams that would be mediocre to bad without elite quarterback play. There have been plenty of mediocre Packer, Seahawk, and Steeler rosters that their QBs dragged to the playoffs themselves.

I guess the good news about Prohm is he is pretty adept at having that PG.

Prohm has another 1.95ish years, like it or not, so we might as well hope Hunter saves him.

I hope so. He was my #1 at the time too. I also think he is an outstanding coach and recruiter. His wife is an Iowan and Cyclone, I am sure she would be all for returning home.

I am not anti CSP. This is a very young team and a team that needs time to learn to play together. That would be true if it wasn't a crazy year. If he can accomplish that and have them competing mid-season in a crazy tough conference, I will stay the course.

Our fans mock Webber but that's the kind of experience you hire if hiring for experience.

Prohm had shown an eye for talent and recruiting above his program's place more than he had a ton of coaching experience. It still seems to be the case.

Weber is an interesting case. Won big with Martin’s players, but then took a bit of a dive. They held on and he got them back to the tourney and a conference title to boot. They appear to have cycled back down from 2019, we’ll see if he can bring them back up.

I’d love nothing more than to see SP similarly right the ship, but I’m not confident he can. And that hurts to say

What you can get at ISU is a budget for a TJ type coach to hire a good staff to help them in deficient areas. For TJ- he could hire a guy that is a guru on the road. He would be better served hiring a tactical coach with experience in game management.

Steve has shown a loyalty to his staff and that is commendable. It has also been a detriment to him. If this staff were to be broken up today, maybe one of those guys ends up on another coaching staff in a major conference. The rest would be on coaching staffs in the OVC.

It’s also concerning in a time that TCU and OSU are starting to redevelop and TTU appears to be solidifying their place in the CBB hierarchy. We’re not above being the doormat in this conference for long stretches.
I could see Self moving onto the Spurs at some point but lets be real, its KU.
I'm not sure if Drew ever leaves Baylor.
I don't think Beard would leave TT until his kids are done with school.
Huggins has a solid squad and will be there until he dies on the court.
I think after the UCLA search collapse, we don't know what Dixon's aspirations are.

OU will probably need a new coach in the next couple years.
KState and ISU might be looking for a new coach at the same time, 2022.

Self isn’t going anywhere. He uses that Spurs thing to just keep getting more money and better facilities. It’s his stick that he uses to beat down the fans when they start getting uppity.

I thought he could have if the NCAA or the FBI actually did something. Who knows now.
I also thought after Donovan left OKC that they would have reached out to him to come home.

When can ISU fans have expectations again? It won't be next year because someone will leave and the staff will be caught with their pants down-again and people will make excuses- again for this demonstrated incompetence.

You cannot be at the bottom of the league in a P6 league two of the past three years and then lose to a good mid major- but still a mid major and have people be happy with that. If that is the ISU culture then that culture sucks.

2020 is all about preparing for 2021. If we are loosing to mid major next year or not in the hunt for an NCAA berth. I'll lead the charge for change.

But I'm beyond excited to watch Tyrese Hunter next year! I really want to see these freshman guards play a lot and see what we have in them. Dubar looks like a younger Vital from Baylor right now. That is a winning piece to go forward with! Hopefully we can find some shooters and players who are committed to defense as the season goes along

I like how the season is over after two games. Geeze can't some of you wait until after we actually know how things play out before starting your coaching search. Tons of new players with restrictions not allowing for normal practice schedules, scrimmages, or warm up games. The ULL loss was due to some of the same factors and people lost their **** at the time. Prohm was a better hire then Otz at the time except for Otz's ties to ISU. He did not have enough experience to justify it and would have been an homer hire due to personal links to JP. JP did the professional thing and hired the best for the job, not his buddy. Otz has more experience now, but isn't exactly tearing things up either. Doesn't mean he's not a good coach, but that would be like a Chizik to Auburn hire.

Where would be "home" for Donovan?

He is from New York and played at Providence.

Was true for Fred's teams as well.

Between Kane and Monte's last three years I'm positive ISU had best point guard play in nation, then you had Tyrese right after that.

Yeah, I really want to see Hunter and I love what I have seen from Dubar so far. Also think Walker would be getting more time if he hadn't missed a lot of practice time as well. You can tell he has talent and I appreciate the way both him and Dubar are giving it there all when they are out there. They are hustling, One thing I hope though is that because Hunter is so fast, that Prohm has them push the ball up the floor faster.

2019 being bad should not take away from 2020 being a rebuild. Horrific transfers in 2018-2019, surprises with players leaving early and injuries have really hurt this team.

I'm still really upset about losing to Ohio St in the tourney a couple years ago. But calling for Prohm's head in a rebuilding year with an almost 5 star of coming is not healthy for this program

Was there any semblance of consistent offensive plays, or the usual running around outside and then throwing up a bad shot? I shut it off after the first 10 minutes. Try running an offense to get a decent shot, because I saw little being able to break your man down off the dribble.

If anyone is calling for a coaching change... You really need a reality check because your expectations should not have been very high for 2020-2021

Should the expectation be sub .500 win seasons? That appears to be where this program is trending.
