I for one would think it could be a major coup. Gable may just win the National Championship in his first season back "home" at Iowa State. Other thoughts?

i would say there is no chance in hell that happens, but ida said the same about CS leaving Ames- it certainly would be a great hire
One of the newscasts tonight had Gable on and asked him that question. He had a look of disbelief and said no. He said he's been a Hawkeye for 30+ years now and was a Cyclone for 6. He's never even considered it.
I saw that interview, and I am not exactly sure that is the way he answered it, it appeared to me that he is somewhat intrigued by the situation.
Agreed. He wouldn't be long term, perhaps interim coach and then AD.
I think a lot of the existing coaches out there are locked into medium contracts. One exception is probably Chris Bono.
I want Gable back in Ames. I want ISU to dominate and end this crap. I want to run scores up and not apologize, so yes I want the legend to return. I am that pissed.
Two years ago, I would have said no way, but due to past events, I think it is time to just go for the wins. Face it, college sports has become a win at all costs proposition, so let's get the winning part down and worry about how we are perceived later.

The irony of Gable beating Cael in the NC would be great irony, not backing this up but damn, that would be something....
I think that's a nice way to look at it. And he would give us some good years and probably keep the recruits coming in.
