Gotcha. I did mean LITERALLY nearly 20.
And no, not the sarcastic or ironic or misused literally that is used all so often now.
Not so much lawn but still related. I have 4 wooden flower/shrub boxes in the front yard in my new house. 2 of them along the house itself and 2 out in the actual front yard. Only 1 of them has anything still growing in it and 2 other have dead shrubs. I am trying to decide what to do with them. They all have the black lining and some old mulch.
I think I am going to just dig everything up and just fill them with mulch/river rock and some decorations. I am leaning towards the rock as it wont go everywhere, but the red mulch looks really nice. Any suggestions or maybe what to plant there that takes minimal amount of care? I will most likely just remove the 2 in the actual yard and seed grass there later on.
You don't happen to live in CR do you? I will be looking to get rid of a bunch of river river rock in the coming months.
Nope Des Moines, but thanks for the offer.

My yard is a disaster. My neighbors for years have done nothing so their yard is nothing but dandelions. You just can't stop those when there are so many next door.
This picture is from a couple of years ago. You can clearly see the property line. Since then dandelions have just been non stop in my yard.

Anybody got a recommendation on something to kill crabgrass without killing anything else? I'm pretty happy with my yard but I do have some crabgrass issues I can't seem to get a handle on short of just pulling it out by hand.
Just had a bunch of river rock delivered from Iowa Landscape supply in DSM. $35/yard, plus $45 for delivery up to 10 yards, I think. Cheapest I found in the metro.
You guys could do what we did; break up the marriage so the problem (in our case, the guy) moves out.I have the same issue - except on all three sides! Not only dandelions, but clover too....and other things. I just grit my teeth and try to keep them at bay. But it's disappointing....
This map showed low to mid 30s earlier in the week so I was confused when he said 55 as well. It’s not going anywhere either. Nothing but cold rain in the 10 day forecast.
This is at 4 inches though. I don’t know **** about lawn care so maybe it’s taken at a shallower depth?

We lost a lot of grass under a couple of trees a few years ago. IIRC, we didn't do a good job of raking and the grass underneath got really weak. The next year was very dry and it just withered away. Now, we have mostly dirt under the trees. We had them "overseed" the yard last year and some new grass grew, but not very much.
Any recommendations (funny and serious ones welcome)?
