I'll take some of whatever you are smoking if you think a low level SEC job is even on his radar. Wtf are we doing here, this thread is a largely embarrassing showcase of our ridiculous inferiority complex we've built over the last 50 years.

If he leaves for USC or almost did, great who the **** cares? It would only be for the money not access to success, and we all know he isn't driven by money. I could meet some ******* USC booster on a beach at Saylorville saying we almost got your coach, yet that doesn't mean what they said has any basis in reality.

We are on the eve of the biggest football game in ISU history and this idiot thread is at the top of the recent posts. Y'all got problems and it has nothing to do with Campbell's decisions after this season.

Ok but it’s not the biggest in history though

Just saw Marcus Freeman listed as a potential hire by the Bears.

I wouldn’t sweat the ND job opening though. Surely the Bears front office wouldn’t be that incompetent, right?

Huh? The Bears front office incompetent? That's all they've been for 40 years AND a couple of decades before Ditka.

On USC, I remember Papadakis was tweeting about “smoke” with Matt Campbell. I assume this was a smokescreen for Riley, who famously told OU media he wasn’t going to LSU and then went to USC that week.

If we're wildly speculating for the hell of it, Wisconsin could be a sneaky contender. Fickell isn't working out (they're bowl ineligible for the first time in 22 years and didn't even break 40 yards rushing against Minnesota) and if Campbell could get the guys to properly run the offense the way he likes, Wisconsin fans would definitely take that.

Now I'll believe Campbell's leaving when he actually leaves, but I think at this point something like that is a more realistic possibility than something like Ohio State or Notre Dame.

Agree. Or Michigan State. And when I said lower level SEC I’m talking Mississippi State or South Carolina type jobs. I think he stays at Iowa State for a while but to say he won’t leave for any job other than Notre Dame or Ohio State is just silly. Riley got 100 million to go to USC. If someone offers a shitload to a program that he could possibly get into the next tier in the SEC or big ten. I would not be shocked to see him take it

I think he could be very successful @ Wisconsin, and they would love him. This would be the perfect place for him to go if he wants to go. The other places like Ohio State, ND, USC, SEC Schools can offer more money, but they would chew him up and spit him out. So, I might sweat Wisconsin a bit, but not sweating any of the others. Good call!

Not that they make the decisions, but Bucky fans have loftier sights than what CMC as generally done at ISU.

I've never heard any co-workers say much about him if they even know who he is.

Also Fickel himself probably has at least one season left to right the ship unless he leaves on his own, which wouldn't surprise me.

I'd be more worried about them taking Otz but Gard is probably safe for now too.

Have no opinion on Campbell taking the UNC job. But, IMO that is a very attractive job as the UNC President & AD is going to give any new coach a lot of resources to succeed as UNC positions themselves for a jump to Big10 or SEC when there is another round of realignment.

Even if the next round of realignment is 5 years away, within the ACC there are only a couple other ACC schools that have similar financial resources going into an era when athletes are going to get paid. And one of those schools, FSU, is a disaster.

Regarding the 12 team playoff, the ACC might be the easiest path because the competitive balance in the ACC is not as good as Big12.

Lastly, Chapel Hill wouldn't be a bad area to live and should be a relatively easy area to recruit to as North Carolina and neighboring states produce a lot of football talent.
All of this is true. But we're talking the ACC here.

Campbell's a Midwest guy with extensive Midwest recruiting chops and contacts. Midwest kids don't typically head to NC to play football.

I mean ask Brian Kelly how jumping from the Midwest to the deep South has worked out for him. Again, NC's a great school in a nice area, resource rich, etc. But I don't think Campbell's a great fit there. Just my opinion.

People who think Campbell would only leave for Ohio State or Notre Dame and that’s it are crazy. Not saying he will leave. However, there are a lot of coaching jobs he could leave for and it would not shock me. The problem is his resume is not up to snuff for the big boys. So any move he makes would not be a huge improvement over Iowa State. I could see a lower level SEC team taking a shot though.

Look, unless you have inside information, why post?
