CPR isn't getting fired anytime soon (not this year). However, it is incredibly defaulting to have college football season basically be over after the first game....for the second season in a row. I just want to be able to actually watch the entire season and have there be hope. Losing the easiest game of the season by 20 at home is a nuclear bomb to any home of winning 6 games...

I never for one second thought NDSU was going to be the easiest game on the schedule (that belongs to Kansas followed by Toledo) as NDSU is not your average FCS team, but regardless that should have been a win and what happened today is inexcusable

This is what sucks. We get fired up for football all spring and summer, then take a dump the first game. Now I'm really finding it hard to get excited for next week....

Can we make it so the football thread is available to opt out of? So many stupid threads trolling, unreasonable posts, and there are still people fighting with others because their ****** and being called fair weather fans when most are just being realistic. Enough is enough.

I'm immensely disturbed by this entire forum following the loss against a VERY good NDST program.

Yes, we got our butts kicked.
Yes, we all are ****** off.
Yes, the defense sucks.

BUT, please don't attack Paul Rhoads. Don't call for his job. The dude is freaking awesome for this university and will eventually strike gold. Besides, he's the best man for the job - PERIOD.

The offense sucked when Farniok went down. No doubt - much like last season.
Give ManGenius time to install his offense.

We have a football program that is historically one of the worst of all time. This has been and will continue to change during CPR's legacy. We lost to probably the greatest FCS school of all time. I'm sick of these armagedeon reactions from fair weather, insecure fans who can't stand by ISU for better or worse. You sound like Hok fans. And you make me sick.

Also, Chris Williams shall never be criticized for his post game comments. This dude is spot on.

Im sorry, what? We've only made a bowl 3 time under CPR, and have been embarrassed in 2 of them. Nothing has changed, and I'm 100% sick of the fans that sit there and act like everything is always going to be fine and get mad at others who want something to change because we are tired of mediocre and poor. 3-9 isnt progress. Beating the 6 worst teams on the schedule to get to 6-6 and getting slaughtered in a bowl game isnt progress. losing by 20 to an FCS team ( and I dont freaking care what FCS team it is for that matter) is not progress.

The general reaction does not suck. From top to bottom we were horrible. The team gave up. How are we so dinged up after just one game? We loose one player and the whole team falls apart? Why where our players gassed and cramping? Why did we punt in the 4th quarter when we were down by three scores with only eight minutes left? There are way more questions then answers.

gotta agree with Ty we knew we were thin in the middle of the D and up against a offense that would attack that. Even though I wasn't expecting much it was still bad

Sure Rhoads gave us some big wins but under him we have been blown out so many times, had our worst loss in school history, had a horrible call against Nebraska that I fully believe would've made us bowl eligible if we just would've gone for it. barely beat uni by 1 point, in consecutive years lost two two fcs teams and got man handled. If you wish to still support him as head coach then by all means do it, but you can't be angry for other people not being satisfied when they see so many negatives to start off year 6 of his tenure.

If you're a D1, major conference team (or pretend to be), you don't get dropped by 20, outscore 34-0, on your homefield to a AA school in your 6th year.

Ever.

And really as an encore to same in the 5th year opener

Questioning Rhoads ability to get it done is prefectly acceptable right now.

But otherwise - CPR will not be fired midseason. 95% likely he won't be fired this year, period. So people really should just get over that right now. And yes - Mangino deserves a break. I thought he called a good game - the guys just didn't execute. And not a single guy on this team is likely a recruit of his. So pass.

Wally - not sure what to say. He's been here all 6, where's the development? Why are we so young aside from just a couple off season dismissals.

Some criticism is well in order.

CPR is done.....

Yeah Paul hired his own replacement. And when Paul goes, so will Wally. Thanks for years 2009-2012. Years 2013 and 2014 made me absolutely want you gone (and were only one game into 2014! This is great!).

Mangino won't want to be here but if he can gives us more than 7 wins for a year or two who gives a ****.

We were ahead legitimately 14-0. Then we lost 34-0. That is small time football. Like Indiana. Like Poor sisters of clare. Small-time. We laid a brick after the 80 yard run.

This reaction sucks. This is not an Iowa State football issue. It is a Paul Rhoads issue.
UNI and NDSU have zero advantages over ISU. Zero. They won because Paul Rhoads is far inferior to Bohl, his successor, and whoever is UNI's coach.

There's a HUGE difference between being a lousy fan and wanting more. When this team is no better than it was in the DMac years, fans have the right to be ******. When we can't beat a single FCS team, we should expect better. When your puppy takes a dump on your carpet, you don't sit there and say "that's okay". You do everything possible to make sure it doesn't happen again. So when Rhoads loses to UNI last year, he needs to do his best to make sure it doesn't happen again. He hasn't prepared this team to play because after looking great through 17 minutes, this team flat out stunk. Just because some of us think he needs to go doesn't mean we are awful fans. It means he's done the best he can and it just isn't good enough. This OP needs to quit being a drama queen unless he enjoys being a bottom feeder.

Maybe, just maybe, we should wait until Mangino has a little time. I know, such a weird thought.

Does Mangino control the defense? The defense that gave up 34 unanswered points to an FCS school? No! Mangino may also be in his first year as the play caller on offense, but only scoring 14 against an FCS school sucks. Clearly Rhoads can't prepare his players and coaching staff to win a game that has made our team the laughing stock of the Big 12. Last years UNI loss angered us enough and this is a tipping point.

LOL ok buddy, we all knew the defense was young and we also all knew that the offense would take some time to install. If you didn't know this, you were fooling yourself.
