So you don't think they will be allowed to do multiscreens during football season?
I bet it's by content provider. I would be surprised if Fox, ESPN, CBS, BTN, etc. all can agree to something to allow it for CFB.

The NFL? Yeah...not happening outside Sunday Ticket.

I know if you have an Apple TV device and your service is with Fubo TV they allow 4 screens at once (that you get to pick what channel they are on). Hoping that is where Youtube TV eventually gets to.

On this one go to 5:15 mark:

Why would content providers care? Serious question...better chance of seeing their ads if I have 4 channels live on my screen than 1. There is a pretty good chance I am changing the channel if an ad comes on and I only have 1 screen. Wouldn't the provider stand a better chance of me leaving that commercial on the multiview screen than not?

I agree with your premise, but I suspect most of the world doesn’t channel surf. If you are watching Sunday Night Football, most stay on through commercials. Better for NBC, then you having some ESPN Sunday night college basketball game in November on multi screen.

Having said that, it’s stupid that content providers would even get a say.

1. Ratings they take to their advertisers
2. Keeping you away from the competition.
3. Forcing using their apps for secondary streams
4. The multiview means the commercial is playing but you are likely listening to something else as well as watching something else and therefore the advertising dollar is less valuable. Less valuable just means when renegotiation comes up price is going to continue to climb.

I get that but from my point of view if a commercial is playing I am surfing the channels or I am usually walking to the kitchen or laundry room or wherever. Not watching/listening to a commercial. And I guess I see multiview as being exposed to 4 x as many commercials and on a multiview I am less likely to turn the channel. At least that is how my habits would present themeselves.

Wonder what the price of a sports-only streaming service would be and if anybody has ever considered offering this as an option.
Fubo started this way, it isn’t anymore and is now an equal cost to YTTV. Also doesn’t have the Turner channels. Had to borrow my buddies login for the March madness app on AppleTv.

That said FuboTV has had multiview options for as long as I have had it. Never seen it limited at all. Works very similar to what YTTVs sounds like.

This morning would be perfect for regular split screen. Watch F1 and the basketball game at same time.
