It’s been really annoying to watch YouTube tv continue to add channels with nothing but junk. So much unnecessary add ons.

We only have local channels through the cable. Only have those so we get a cheaper deal on the internet.

Crazy enough I don't miss live TV. We miss a few games, but with a few other services we get plenty of content.

I don't need to watch America Pickers and/or Love it or List It on first run. (Or at all)

Just got YTTV before football season so I could watch all the ISU games without sailing the high seas (can’t stand being 2-3 plays behind). Got in at a discounted rate but will probably just cancel once that is up. Really like it, but it’s not worth it. Need Venu to drop soon because I quite literally only care about watching sports

Direct TV most basic package is still $74.99 and that only includes ESPN/ESPN2 (as a sports fan) so lets say as an average sports fan you'd probably want the CHoice package to get more sports channels. That package is typically $89.99. BUT WAIT. You have to pay a couple of fee's, including a regional sports fee! So now you're up to $110.00 a month AND that is on a 24 month! agreement.

I'll stick with my YTTV that will be $82/month and i can cancel with a click of a button.

ok keep doing the math for me and tell me when a better deal comes out. thank you for your service

But they now have a channel dedicated to their commercials./

I can't complain about YTTV, it' head and shoulders better than anything else I've ever used and they don't play games with prices like many other companies.
I hear ya. I absolutely love YTTV. I'll pay whatever :(

Are we getting anything new with this price increase?

Maybe they are just increasing their revenue by $1 billion a year because they can! You know how tough the times are for Alphabet (Google)!

I don't like the increase, but it is a good service for all the things my wife and I want to watch.

This I agree with...however, one man's treasure is another man's junk...but of the last 20 channels added to YTTV...I would be surprised if I watched more than 3 of them. And YTTV leaving the regional sports channel business is disappointing as well! This said...I have no plans to quit using YTTV at the moment...

Don't they also charge per receiver too?

I have no idea how hardware based satellite TV survives. DirecTV is trying to hybridize their service, but are still doing it from the highest price point. When the old folks with the ability to pay/lack of desire to do something different all die off, where is the market for that?

And now DirecTV has a free streaming setup right? Are they grasping at anything they can to survive?

I just went back and looked, but my DirecTV Now bill went from $96.29 to $106.99 in October 2023, and it wasn't long after that I switched to YTTV. My guess is was before the pandemic when DirecTV Now was under $83

I think at $83 YTTV is still a good value. It's far better than cable. I always hated calling the cable company every year to try to negotiate the rate. They always had a 1 year special for new customers, but nothing for 10+ year customers. I would argue that they will do anything to get people in the door, but will do nothing to keep the people inside. And my "negotiated" rate was still over $110/mo

I was very happy the day I cut the cord

I left DirectV because it had gotten so expensive. Not necessarily the package (whose price they cut in half when I was trying to cancel) but because I had to pay a fee for every box at every TV, plus extra for HD, plus extra for whole home DVR, etc.... Even at $83 dollars a month the YTTV is way cheaper than what I was paying over there 4 years ago.
