No, I think he has a voice in these decisions.

Sort of like he probably had a voice in letting go of Bosio (****** character) and happened to replaced him with his Rays buddy.

Agreed that he has a voice but so does Theo. And the Cubs aren’t hiring or firing any coach without front office buy in. I mean look at Mark Loretta, that was all front office hire.

I absolutely believe that Joe and the FO were pretty much on the same page up until last year. I think the FO spent most, if not all of last offseason doing things with the “my way or the highway” mindset.

And I can’t totally fault them because, again, I think they probably gave Joe a little more power than they wanted and his push for Hickey, and Hickey just up and left and went to the Dodgers

Cubs bullpen ERA MLB ranks:

2015: 8th
2016: 8th
2017: 6th
2018: 2nd

People who think Joe is bad at bullpen management are probably in for a rude awakening next year. And all those rankings without ever having a collection of elite relievers.
