Not exactly sure.
Newell Fonda is a perennial power in 1A. Won 3 out of last 6 I believe and runner up last year vs Audi. They are looking for title number 5 overall. I wouldn't count them out. They play a lot of tougher competition in non conference.
Btw, a few of Newell Fondas scores this year.

Panorama beats Grundy by 10.

Northwest Iowa finishing off the 2A quarters; Westwood vs Central Lyon up next.

Tension is starting among a local school. A local radio station started carrying the schools events (small school where it’s athletics over academics). Broadcasters and everything. Attendance started to drop at several home events. So the school is now started to mention they want a cut of advertising since they are losing at the gate they believe.
I can understand where administrators make this leap. But it would be interesting if the boys & girls association did a study on attendance over last 5-10 years. I am skeptical that streaming is the reason.

It's the same fear college administrators had 30-40 years ago when more games showed up on TV.

I have watched a few HS games on CISN and I am shocked at what appears to be sparse attendance at 5A boys or girls games.

When I've attended a couple of my alma mater's games the crowd seems pretty scarce and it seems to be a theme in general regardless of success.

I know the wife and I would/will watch games at times versus going in. Once my youngest is done playing, I don’t see myself really every going to watch a game anyhow. I just done have interest anymore.

Offenses went cold in the second half, but Westwood outscored Central Lyon 8-0 in the last 5 minutes to win, 35-32.

It’s not the required social event it once was in the pre-ubiquitous social media era.
Hit the nail on the head - when I was in high school years ago, in our small town, everyone in town went to the basketball games on Friday night - it was a social gathering. Now, not so much.

It could have...but it didn't. They got the name back in the 1920s.
Not sure about the year, but yah wasn't from dirt track racing

I've watched old high school games on YT and even the rural teams, while probably drawing big crowds in a big game/rivalry, had the crowds basically making a ring around the field.

I've attended a couple of similar sized schools' playoff games in the past few years when I was back for a weekend and it was a pretty sparse event.

The PBP guy can't pronounce Newell. He says New L instead on just one word. I can't believe no one has told him about it. The color guy says it right.
