COLUMN: Hire Seneca and Sage as assistants

I would love to see Todd Blythe back in Ames.

COLUMN: Hire Seneca and Sage as assistants

This is exactly why the "get rich quick" schemes actually helps everyone that buys in to get rich quick. Well, they don't. I have no doubt that a wildly successful investment banker could teach economics. He's going to teach what he knows and how he learned it. Those of us who have actually...

COLUMN: Hire Seneca and Sage as assistants

I will respond since I posted something about them. You are correct, I don't know what experience they have but neither do you. When JP talks about talking ISU to the next level, that means he's wanting to do the extraordinary at ISU. Yes, both of those guys had some success in college and the...

COLUMN: Hire Seneca and Sage as assistants

In my opinion, Eggan and Ayeni stays. Eggan knows your conference's recruiting base and Ayeni is just one hell of a coach.

COLUMN: Hire Seneca and Sage as assistants

Neither guy has proven he can coach, recruit, or develop players to perform at a very high level. Also, we don't need a guy(s) to sell ISU to fan base. That's all we know for sure that either of these guy can help with. CPR has already built a great foundation of support. The facilities are...

JEFF WOODY: Characteristics the next coach needs to have

Not offended at all. Just sharing some insight.

JEFF WOODY: Characteristics the next coach needs to have

FYI, Chizik is not from Texas. However, that "dumb hick" Mark Dantonio is. That other "dumb hick" Art Briles has done one hell of a job with a program that was equal or worse than ISU. So, I suppose having some "dumb hick" from Texas would be nice.

    Pollard/Rhoads Firing

No. He sealed his fate by continuing to make the wrong in-game decisions, personnel decisions, etc. It was all about his decision-making. Just this year, 3 terrible decisions cost us 3 games. Plus, they were not tough decisions to make. Center the ball for the field goal at Toledo, use you...

JEFF WOODY: Characteristics the next coach needs to have

Yes! See Michigan. Hoke, for example, also left Michigan in a better place than it was when he got there, including recruits. Harbaugh is getting a lot of credit for turning them around, but Hoke had a good base of recruits already in place. We need an offensive mind who knows how to put...

    Pollard/Rhoads Firing

The head coach gets paid a lot of money to make the crucial decisions. Just like any other CEO, they do not produce products, the workers do that. They make decisions. CPR was fired because he couldn't or didn't make the right decisions on a lot of things when it came to the game. He started his...

JEFF WOODY: Characteristics the next coach needs to have

Good write up Jeff. I agree with all you've said except for this statement. Is this a must have? We just fired a guy with these qualifications. I believe there are many humble, honest, high integrity coaches that are not from the midwest. Parents of players will embrace any coach that comes...

College Football Playoff Rankings (Nov. 17)

They should go to a 8-team playoff. Take each P5 conf champ, Independent (only if in the top 10), and highest ranked mids like Houston and Toledo. If they don't have an independent in the top 10, take the 2nd best P5. That way, we eliminate the P5 conf biases. Teams have to play their way in by...

How can the coaching staff not know what down it is??? EVER HEARD OF A TIMEOUT??

Maybe, but I would rather make JP's money, hang out with donors, travel to every football and basketball game on the university's dime, and help the HC's be great at their job by making sure they never got comfortable.

How can the coaching staff not know what down it is??? EVER HEARD OF A TIMEOUT??

I want JP's job! They fire high school coaches in Texas with a much better record than CPR for not making the playoffs. ISU has the facilities, fan base, and Big12 backing to be much better. But until football is taken seriously by the AD, nothing will change.

How can the coaching staff not know what down it is??? EVER HEARD OF A TIMEOUT??

I've OC'd high school football for a long time. I have always had a coach in the pressbox and his only job was to give me the down, distance, hash, or middle of the field after every offensive play. This allowed me to stay focused on the play sheet. If we can afford to have that coach in Texas...

    The fix is in...

If the fix is in, why didn't the conference refs figure out a way for BU to beat OU tonight, giving the conference a battle of 2 undefeated teams next week? Can we argue some things were bizarre? Yes, but you find that in every game. What ISU has to do is find a way to win close games...

Olson, ESPN: "Iowa State QB Joel Lanning gets his shot after shakeup"

IMO, Lanning should play. He should have had more snaps during the course of the entire year for the simple fact that he was probably going to be the guy next season. However, It's a matter of perspective. What I'm saying is if SR was playing just average, he would still be the guy. Lanning...
