Shocked they were able to pull this off.
I feel like he could have gotten a better job but maybe this is the last hurrah before retirement.
I thought so too.

I guess Mendenhall might just be the kind of guy who enjoys an off the radar lifestyle without all the other crap that comes with being at a big time program.

Chris Petersen was always like that.

New Mexico is a crappy job, maybe he bought a small ranch to settle down in a few years. Surprised he couldnt make a go of it at UVA. He was great at BYU.

His coaching record is average though. 35-40 while at Texas Tech and 28-37-1 with the Cardinals.
Alabama once hired a St. Louis Cardinals Head Coach with a 23-34-1 record who had also been a Head Coach at Texas A&M with a 27-45-1 record. He went 70-16-1 in 7 years @ Alabama, won a National Championship (1992), won an SEC Championship (1992), won 4 SEC West Championships, had a 5-1 Bowl Record. His name was Gene Stallings. You just never know!

And got the program put on probation that set them back a decade……I kid, I kid.

I couldn’t think of two people more different in their styles than Stallings and kliff. I remember him being on Finebaum was always a great listen.

I always admired Stallings, especially with what he did for his son.

From Husker Board...

Grambling is set to hire Mickey Joseph as its next coach. He most recently coached at Nebraska and served as Huskers' interim head coach for part of 2022. Football Scoop first reported Grambling had targeted Joseph and was working on a deal.

And...

The felony strangulation charges against Joseph were dropped in Nebraska in April after his accuser refused to testify. Joseph had been arrested in late November 2022, following an argument at their home in Lincoln.
