He's a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer that won't be because he simply couldn't stay healthy. I don't blame him at all - if I were injured all the time I'd want to quit as well. Has to suck being in pain all the time. To me the only shocking thing is he's doing this two weeks before the season starts. The Colts are effed.

Bizarre timing, and one of the strangest deals I’ve seen. News breaks on Twitter during the colts pre-season game. Fans in the stands are shocked, and the news travels to the sidelines during the game.

If he’s ready to retire then good for him. There’s more to life than football/one job, so when it’s time to be done move on and win at the next thing you do.

I loved watching the guy. He would stand tall in the pocket with chaos all around him because had bad lines most of the time.

He always seemed to genuinely love football and seems like a guy that would retire when it was no longer fun. I can see him coaching.

O-line at colts sucked not terribly surprised he got injured again. With good O-line he would be hall of famer for sure.
