The professor first tried to call Hammad's coaches, but when no one in the athletic department was available, she placed a call to Baylor police.

Let that sink in for a minute. Who did they try to call first even with his previous, documented history with the police.

The Baylor athletic department just needs to ban their players from having any contact of any kind with females. They obviously can't be civil with members of the opposite sex.

I thought that was already school policy. Hence why it was deemed the female's fault they were assaulted

Nice catch, obviously Standard Operating Procedure at BU. Most people would call the cops first in this situation unless trained to do otherwise.

To be fair in a vacuum would it really be that weird to try and solve something like this without the law. Sit them both down and make sure people understand what the other wants. From the article it doesn't sound like he was doing anything other than trying to contact her at that point.

He's pointing out, I think, that she called campus police rather than the Waco police who might be better equipped to deal with the situation if they want to bother.

It's football and Texas, so they still might not, but it seems like a better option to me.
